I’m getting excited about my boy making a comeback! After getting diagnosis with EPM and getting in his accident a year and a half ago, then his EPM relapsing about 6 months ago I wasn’t so sure about how he would come back. We are loving Dallas and Mayz together! Mayz started horseback riding lessons to work on building core strength, and a couple weeks ago progressed to riding with just a bareback pad. Last week we changed things up, and had him ride backwards for a couple laps to really challenge his strength and balance and now he’s a pro! #KRKbarrelhorses #KRKequine

Today we confirmed the news I was hoping not to get. Oakley has officially been diagnosed with EPM, and we began treatment today. We are staying hopeful, but for the time being Oakley has to take a step down to only hand walking and turn outs. While we are missing her in lessons, we are looking forward to her return. For those of you that don’t know, Cactus was diagnosed with EPM as well back in Sept 2019, as well as relapsed in Oct 2020. While it’s been a tough road for Cactus, I’m hoping the treatment plan we have set for him now will help Oakley as well. She defiantly has the hearts of both myself and all our students, and we’re already eagerly awaiting her recovery

I am thrilled to officially welcome this sweet little mare Royally Smart Freckle, aka Wicked, to the KRK Barrel Horses team. This mare is filled with talent and heart. Wicked joined us about 4 weeks ago, and has quickly become a student favorite. With a background in reining this girl has some fun buttons, but is quiet enough to teach a beginner rider confidently.
