The Haas-Lilienthal House is not only one of the City’s most magnificent Victorians, but also a reminder of a unique San Francisco subculture. The House is an exuberant 1886 Queen Anne-style Victorian, designed by Peter R. Schmidt and built for William Haas in 1886. Saturday is here, and if you decided to enjoy your evening at home and enjoy a few cocktails, here are some of our favorite recipes: Mojito: - 10 Mint Leaves-Raw - Limes, raw... - 2 tablespoons Sugars, granulated - 1 cup ice - 1 fluid ounces Alcoholic beverage, distilled, rum, 80 proof - cup Carbonated water; club soda Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge. Dark and Stormy: - 2 oz. dark rum - 3 oz. ginger beer - 1/2 oz. lime juice (optional) Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Add rum. Pour in ginger beer and lime juice. Stir with a barspoon.
