Today on Midday Music
Today's show dedicated to the great Dean Wilson
Larry Slater hosts Jazz Connections tonight, Saturday April 24th at 7pm It’s no secret that Larry loves the sound of the saxophone, and is enamored with jazz history. So when he discovered a post on the pianist Ethan Iverson’s blog Do The Math from the journalist and author Mark Stryker, with commentary on some lesser known saxophonists of the 50s, 60s and 70s, he knew that this was great material for a Jazz Connections show.... We all know the big names: Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Wayne Shorter. But how often do we remember and listen to Ernie Henry, Junior Cook, Frank Foster, Frank Strozier or Booker Ervin? Join Larry Slater, Sonoma County's JazzMD, as he explores the music of these lesser known saxophonists- with commentary from Mark Stryker’s blog post. Tonight ! Mark Stryker has recently published a book on Jazz from Detroit https://jazzfromdetroit.com/
I'll be interviewing the filmmaker, Todd Darling on Monday April 19 at 12:30pm

Sonoma County may move out of the red tier into the second-least restrictive orange tier as soon as Wednesday. This change comes as California plans to lower the bar after administering 4 million doses to the state’s most underserved communities, according to state officials. (Read More)
Stacey Abrams was the first black woman to be nominated by a major party to run for governor. She narrowly lost that race in Georgia but received more votes th...an any other Democrat who has run statewide there in many years. Abrams writes about daring to dream big and following those ambitions to fruition in her book, "Lead From the Outside." KRCB's Adia White interviewed Abrams about her book on stage at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts on May 20th. See more

Beale Street Caravan: Liz Brasher - Airing on 10/28 at 11pm. This week we feature Fat Possum Records recording artist, Liz Brasher. A recent Memphis transplant, this singer, songwriter, guitarist, and bandleader describes her sound as "garage rock meets the Delta blues meets gospel meets soul." We caught up with Liz in a performance for Folk All Y'All, and Pat Mitchell sat down with her for an in depth interview.
Get your Blues out with the Lady who Spins the Blues tonight!
Liz Longley joins Brian Thursday morning.
Looking forward to talking with Cidny...
