Amazing progress in pathogen discovery is happening at a facility we designed for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Washington. The PNNL Biological Sciences Facility and Computational Sciences Facility are connected by a two-story, transparent atrium that provides shared common spaces where researchers from both disciplines can collaborate and share ideas. kmdarchitects.com

Phase 2 expansions and renovations to the MultiCare Allenmore Hospital Emergency Department have been completed and will improve access to care for the Tacoma, Washington community. The changes are designed to improve overall patient flow. Treatment space is doubled allowing an additional 10,000 patients to be seen per year. To assist with COVID-19 measures and work-from-home schedules, kmd has instituted virtual site tours implemented by Skanska. Through VR and 3D cameras mounted on hard hats as construction staff walk through our CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center project, we can keep a careful eye on all components of its construction from our home offices. www.kmdarchitects.com

Construction is nearing completion at the new Alta Oficina campushome to EVA Airways North American Headquarters designed by kmd.

Last month in Seattle, the Koda Residential and Mixed-Use Tower, designed by kmd, topped out. The $81.5M project is the first new construction high-rise to be built in the area known as Nihonmachi or Japantown, the gateway to the historic Chinatown-International District. Earlier this week, our team members toured the new Contra Costa County Administration Building in downtown Martinez, CA. Earlier this year we were completing Construction Documents for the new Lummi Nation Wellness Center in Bellingham, Washington when the Covid-19 pandemic struck.
