Buck Wild Beer is bound to become a favored destination for people with Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. The taproom is a partnership with Kitava, an SF 'clean food' restaurant.
"Buck Wild Brewing Taproom is a partnership between California’s first gluten-free brewery and Kitava, a San Francisco-based ‘clean food’ restaurant." https://www.berkeleyside.com//everything-to-eat-and-drink-
Thanks Eater! "A former McDonald's space transformed into a gluten-free, paleo-friendly, healthy dining establishment? That's inspirational enough to attract plenty of better-eating converts, who come in for Kitava's Cuban bowl with heritage pork shoulder, zoodles (zucchini noodles) with red sauce, and even General Tso's chicken, which is fried with healthier-than-usual oils at lower temperatures." https://sf.eater.com//best-gluten-free-restaurants-food-sa

***KITAVA IS STILL OPEN FOR DELIVERY*** We recognize you - our community - needs healthy food that makes you feel good now more than ever. And quite honestly, we need the support of our community more than ever as well. Since restaurants that offer delivery, pickup, and takeout orders are deemed essential to the public at this time, Kitava remains open for business. ... You can order delivery through the usual channels with our partners DoorDash, Caviar, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Postmates. For pickup orders, give us a call at 415-780-1661. (We will also fulfill takeout orders, but discourage guests from congregating in our dining room, so we strongly recommend calling ahead to pick up your order.) If you'd like to purchase a Kitava gift card, you can do so here: https://www.toasttab.com/kitava/giftcards Thank you for your ongoing support. We are trying our best to get through this as a team, and will continue working hard to provide you with healthy, safe, delicious, and nourishing meals. We're confident in our ability to overcome these challenges alongside our wonderful community. Stay healthy, and stay strong.
When Toast, Inc. asked us to submit an elevator pitch video for our #ToastyAwards20 candidacy, we knew it was only right to feature members of our local Mission SF community! If you'd like to support Kitava's nomination as one of five nationwide finalists for the Local Community Advocate Award, please submit your vote here: bit.ly/toasty20... Big thanks to Paula Tejeda Rieloff of Chile Lindo, Manny Yekutiel of Manny's, and Tom Holcomb and Patrick Carr from the San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC)!
KITAVA NEEDS YOUR VOTE! We're honored to be nominated as a finalist for a 2020 Toasty Award in the "Local Community Advocate" category. Each year @toasttab recognizes one restaurant that does amazing work to uplift their local community. Kitava’s been chosen as one of five finalists nationwide due to our efforts to provide greater access to healthy food in the Mission, as well as our work with local non-profits, schools, and community organizations (like those pictured in th...e photo!). The winner will be determined by public vote, so we could really use your support. Help recognize Kitava's efforts to provide greater access to healthy food in the Mission, and our work with local non-profits, schools, and community organizations. Received this feedback from a loyal customer yesterday. With all the work we do to create a welcoming space for EVERYONE in the Mission, this warmed our heart! "Dear kitava, thank you for everything!... As an "invisible middle aged woman" I clean a house in SF every Thursday, And deposit my checks next door. When I first saw your place, I rolled my eyes And thought you were a bullshit techie place. Then , one night , I actually looked at your menu. I saw the lower cost neighborhood option. Wow, how cool. I went in, and your Tiffany was so graci The food I brought home was damned delicious. When I returned the next week to order the full on Cuban bowl, Tiffany actually remembered me by name! I've returned several times. And your gal Quince , is just as warm and Remembers me and my order. Congratulations on hiring great people. And thank you for your delicious food."

Join Kitava co-founder Jeff Nobbs and Dr. Anthony Gustin as they discuss why "vegetable oils" are terrible for your health, fried food can be healthy, and why most restaurants cook with bad oils (excluding Kitava, of course) + While we're on the topic, let's talk about "vegetable oils" for a second. + When you hear that phrase - vegetable oil - you're probably thinking, "vegetables, that sounds pretty healthy!" ...Continue reading
Kitava's mission is to nourish people and the community we serve through healthy food and conscious sourcing. A big part of that is ensuring EVERYONE has access to the healthy food on our menu, which includes working class neighbors that live and work in the Mission. We introduced our permanent Locals Specials to make sure there's always an option available for guests looking to eat healthy, even on a budget. This video explains the origins of our Locals Specials, what they are, and how we came up with the pricing and portioning.
Most restaurants use the cheapest oils they can find, but Kitava takes care to source oils from natural sources, that hold up at high cooking temps, and have nutritionally beneficial properties. This video explores how and why we focus on high quality fats and cooking oils. KITAVA OIL SOURCING... Palm Oil - Natural Habitats Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Veronica Foods
