Meet Sydney Bern-Story! Ms. Story is a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Story is from Pismo Beach, California. Ms. Story graduated from the University of San Diego and earned her M.A. in International Policy at Middlebury Institute for International Studies and Education at Lesley University. Ms. Story loves science fiction and learning about space -- during the quarantine she started tracking the International Space Station and comets! When she is not ...teaching, Ms. Story loves to read, paint and play video games! ¡Conoce Sydney Bern-Story! Ms. Story es maestra de Kinder para el año escolar 2020-2021. Ms. Story es de Pismo Beach, California. La Sra. This week we are sharing the different ways your KIPPster will engage in their virtual learning so you know what to expect for the first day of school on Thursday, August 20th! Your KIPPster will have access to our online reading and math programs through their Chromebooks. KIPPsters should spend about 20-30 minutes on ST Math & Lexia daily so they can independently master grade level content! Meet Hannah Cramer! Ms. Cramer will be KIPP Compton’s Founding Dean for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Cramer is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but moved to LA 3 years ago to join the KIPP SoCal team. Ms. Cramer graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Developmental Psychology and a Master’s degree in Instruction & Learning and Special Education. Before transitioning into the Dean role, Ms. Cramer taught as a special education... teacher for 3 years and then managed the special education team for 2. Ms. Cramer loves to bake, fill her house with plants, go hiking and camping, and spend time with her dog, Beverly! ¡Conoce a Hannah Cramer! La Sra. Cramer sera la Decana Fundadora de KIPP Compton para el ano escolar 2020-2021. Sra. Cramer es originaria de Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pero se mudo a LA hace 3 anos para unirse al equipo KIPP SoCal. Meet the Team, continued! Next up - Ms. Faust! Meet Kayla Faust! Ms. Faust is our Founding Business Operations Manager (BOM) entering her 3rd year at KIPP Compton. She is originally from Columbia, SC, but moved to LA from Boston, MA. Ms. Faust graduated from the College of Charleston double majoring in Biology and Spanish and received her Masters in Critical and Creative Thinking from UMASS - Boston. Ms. Faust has spent the majority of her career as a founder in education - f...rom being a founding Americorps member and Program Manager with City Year Boston to founding partnerships as a Dropout Recovery Specialist with Boston Public Schools. In her free time, Ms. Faust enjoys facetiming her family, watching horror films, traveling, trying new vegetarian/vegan recipes and listening to music. She LOVES to dance and while she doesn’t mind having a dance party with herself, she can’t wait to attend a live music performance in the future. She is so excited to start Year 3 and continue working with our KIPPsters and their families this year :) ¡Conoce a Kayla Faust! La Sra. Faust es nuestra Gerente de Operaciones Comerciales Fundadoras (BOM) que ingresa a su tercer ano en KIPP Compton. Ella es originaria de Columbia, SC, pero se mudo a LA desde Boston, MA. La Sra. Faust se graduo del Colegio de Charleston con doble especializacion en Biologia y Espanol y recibio su Maestria en Pensamiento Critico y Creativo de UMASS - Boston. La Sra. Faust ha pasado la mayor parte de su carrera como fundadora en educacion, desde ser miembro fundadora de Americorps y gerente de programas de City Year Boston hasta fundar asociaciones como especialista en recuperacion de abandono escolar en las escuelas publicas de Boston. En su tiempo libre, a la Sra. Faust le gusta hablar con su familia via FaceTime, ver peliculas de terror, viajar, probar nuevas recetas vegetarianas / veganas y escuchar musica. A ella le ENCANTA bailar y, aunque no le importa tener una fiesta de baile consigo misma, no puede esperar para asistir a una presentacion de musica en vivo en el futuro. Esta muy emocionada de comenzar Year 3 y continuar trabajando con nuestros KIPPsters y sus familias este ano :) #KippCompton

LeAnna is from San Diego, and has been a Carson resident for the past 12 years. Dr. Majors has a Doctorate in Education from Cal State Long Beach. She LOVES teaching and learning and believes that every child should have a school that sees, loves, and values them! She is a proud member of the BeyHive is thrilled for the Black is K...ing movie release since she cannot attend concerts in person. She loves baking and watching British Television! She cannot wait to start our 3rd year of founding! :) ¡Conoce a la Dra. LeAnna Majors! Dr. Majors es la orgullosa lider fundador de la escuela KIPP Compton Community School. LeAnna es de San Diego y ha sido residente de Carson durante los ultimos 12 anos.
