Thank you to all the artists and those who love that art for making this, our first ever, Kings Mountain Virtual Art Fair a success. We realize that this is new for all of us, and while not ideal, we made it work. Despite COVID, wildfires, and raging heat - the art fair carries on for another year! Even though the show is over, you can still see the work of our amazing artists here: https://my.boothcentral.com/v//kings-mountain-art-fair/live... We will have this site up for a while so if you missed the show this weekend, you can still browse the art and the artists, and support our community, if you so choose. We look forward to seeing you all again next year, hopefully IN PERSON. If you enjoyed the fair this year, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.
If you are really craving those Art Fair cookies, here's your last chance to get them before 2021. Only a couple of hours left of the KMES fall auction! If you are local you can bid to win your own personal stash of dinner-plate-sized cookies! https://event.auctria.com/75f543ff-f36e-4c13-9613-cb034e90/
Don't forget to keep checking back to see the new art the artists are continuing to add to their websites!
Thank you Marna for all the lovely posts and memories from past fairs! We really hope to see you again in person next year!
Please donate at http://kmap.us/donate to help our amazing school! We call them Calories for a Cause. The Calories are delicious, giant cookies baked annually by Kings Mountain parents and community members to be sold at the Kings Mountain Art Fair. The cause is funding for enrichment programs in science, art and music at Kings Mountain’s three-room public elementary school. Parents and kids sell these enormous chocolate chip, oatmeal-raisin and toffee goodies from the sc...hool cookie booth and from a little red wagon piled high with cookies pulled by young students around the fairgrounds. Fairgoers in couples often begin by splitting a single five-dollar cookieor even between several persons strolling in family groups. When that happens, the fairgoers inevitably make their way back to the colorful cookie booth for moreeither to taste another cookie variety or to get the full satisfaction of an entire giant cookie all for themselves. Yum! Last year, forty-four volunteers baked, wrapped and packaged 4,437 cookies prior to the fair. A generous commercial bakery makes this possible every year by donating their premise from 4 am to 4 pm for use by the Kings Mountain Associated Parents (KMAP), the school’s non-profit parent fundraising foundation. KMAP organizes a blitz team of cookie bakers who bring in a truckload of ingredients and loads of energy. For 12 hours, they measure, pour, and mix hundreds of pounds of flour, butter, brown sugar, eggs, and other ingredients creating cookie dough enough to fill hundreds of large baking sheets. Using fast commercial ovens, this gold star team pulls off a huge, single-work day project, while leaving cleaned equipment ready for the bakery employees when they arrive at 4:30 that afternoon. Fairgoers strolling the 2019 Kings Mountain Art Fair bought out the Cookie Booth to its last crumb earning an amazing $21,000 for school enrichment programs. This year, global pandemic protocols make the bakery site donation impossible and even preclude holding the Art Fair itself at its’ beautiful forested location. Kings Mountain Elementary will remain a small but mighty school full of excellent teaching and enthusiastic learning. An Art Fair grant from the proceeds of the virtual fair you are entering now will be a primary means of support for the enriched education programs that brought California Distinguished school honors to our 60 student K-5 school. We hope you enjoy strolling the fine art and crafts offered by the juried artists accepted to exhibit this year. Please remember that these exceptional artists will donate 15% of sales to our community. Your click through to purchase something of beauty that gives you pleasure also enriches the educational opportunity for our mountain kids. Every purchase is a win-win at the Kings Mountain Art Fair.
For this final day of the Virtual Art Fair, we will again mirror the live-stream broadcast here to give you a taste of the action. But the real action is happening over at: https://my.boothcentral.com/v/even/kings-mountain-art-fair/ Come browse the artists' work, chat with them, buy some art, and support the artists and our community!... Don't forget to join us tomorrow for one more day of live chats with our 2020 artists!
