When a group of 600 nuns chose to donate their brains to a University of Minnesota study 30 years ago, they did so in the hopes of advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. But no one could anticipate the most crucial piece of the study’s revelatory findings: their handwritten autobiographies. Hear the remarkable story. https://www.cnn.com//vital-signs-the-nuns-devoted-to-under

She also worked with a team from Kindred at Home to make sure her mother was never alone. At Kindred at Home, we honor the crucial role caregivers play in supporting our home health patients on their road to recovery. If you have a loved one who you think might benefit from home health support, contact us today at 833.HOME.046. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7iSwhARav4
Happy Doctor's Day! Simply put, physicians are at the core of what we do. We rely on their expert directives to create the best care for our home health patients and the appreciation runs deep. Did you know Doctor's Day originated in Georgia? Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of a doctor in Winder, Georgia, petitioned for the holiday until its first observation on March 30, 1933. The date also marks the anniversary of the first use of ether anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long. Learn more about the history of Doctor's Day and thank a doctor in your life to mark the occasion! https://nationaltoday.com/doctors-day/

Last month, at the @SoutheasternColoradoAHEC Virtual Nightingale Nurse Recognition Event, our very own Olga Ramirez, from our Pueblo branch, was presented a Luminary Award for her extraordinary work. On her own time, Olga has created a pantry of healthcare, ostomy, wound care, and DME in her home for those in need. She gives unused supplies donated by the community to people without the resources to purchase them. Olga, we are so proud of all you do for the health and wellbeing of your community. And we’re honored that you’re part of the Kindred at Home family. Congratulations!

Falls can lead to injuries, decreased mobility, and loss of independence. By taking care of your eyes, you can minimize the risk of falling. Get your vision checked once a year. Make sure your eyeglass prescription is current. Keep your home well lit. And, if you need help adjusting to a loss of vision, talk to a Kindred at Home nurse about what we can do to help. 1.866.CARE.KAH.
Call an old friend. Bake for a neighbor. Volunteer for a cause that's close to your heart. Now's a good time to reach out to others.
