Banning your child's smart phones from at night might be an awesome idea. A good percentage of kids and teens say that they wake up in the middle of the night to check their social media. It's a habit that interrupts their sleep which increases their fatigue during school hours. Heavy usage of social media and poor sleep have both been found to take a toll on young peoples' mental health, so the combination could be even more problematic. Before they say their good nights to you, maybe you should think twice about banning that smart phone of theirs.

Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation that will keep California kids strapped into rear-facing car seats until they are 2 years old. Having the kids strapped this way will provide the best support for the heads and spines of your little one. Also, by doing this, they are 75% less chances of fatal injuries. Our kids' safety is our number priority and thank you Jerry Brown for enforcing that!

School just starting and you’ve gotten all the school supplies your little one needs. Backpacks are getting bigger and heavier and they are not proportion to kids’ sizes. They are responsible for a significant amount of backpain in children that can contribute to headaches and problems concentrating in school. As a general rule, the backpack should be no more than 10 to 20 percent of your child’s body weight. Hopefully this problem will not continue doe to technology always advancing. Soon enough we’ll have schools stocked with laptops and tablets in every classroom.

How young is too young for our kids to start using social media? Over 5 million kids under the age of 10 are Facebook users. However, most social medias need an adult to make a page or have to be over 13. many parents are saying 13 is still too young. With all the dangers out there in cyber space, we should really contemplate and see if our little one is old enough to enter that world. Talk to your kids and explain to them the pros and cons of the Internet.

Music nowadays listen to the radio and most of the time it will contain explicit language. Since we cannot control what is aired over the radio, we can control what they listen to a certain extent. we should explain to them while they are young, why it is not age appropriate so they get a better understanding of why you are limiting them to certain things. Before you turn on that radio, just be aware of the words that are entering your children's ears.

We want our kids to be healthy and grow up healthy. Now, children are consuming more and more caffeine daily. It makes them impulsive, fidgety and less able to focus. Just because you can handle the caffeine, doesn’t mean your kids can because the less you weigh, the more caffeine takes an affect on your body. Try and keep your child’s consumption under 100 milligrams of caffeine a day, which is roughly about two cans of soda. Be careful of other hidden caffeine beverages such as hot chocolate, root beer, or Nestea peach green tea or foods such as dark chocolate and cliff bars. Control caffeine intake early so your kids grow up to be healthy.

As a baby, kids never made a fuss taking a shower. They never have a hard time getting into a pool, so why are toddlers so tub resistant during bath time? Give your child a heads up five minutes before bath time so they are fully aware. Run the water with the bathroom door closed, bring them in; the faucet can be loud to the ears. Let them watch a video on an electronic device while they bathe, but be aware none of the water gets on the device. Lastly, act confident during the bath and praise them so it ends positively.

Kissing the boo boos to make it feel better. We do it and it works for us. Of course, we all know the kiss didn’t heal their hurts, but it was an expression of love and comfort. The goal is to acknowledge the hurt and hope your love would make them feel better. Who would've thought such a small act would help your child in so many ways.

With so much technology nowadays, we should child proof everything that has to do with electronics. Sign out of shopping services. This might help aid in preventing unauthorized purchases. Set a pin number or password on all devices. Use sturdy cases and screen protectors as you may be aware that kids are very clumsy. Lastly, set up parental controls. This should protect them and decrease stress in your family.
