https://youtu.be/rOzSy4Z-2GQ The California State Preschool Program can be traced back to World War II, (1941) when the federal government began funding preschool and childcare centers. These programs became necessary when a significant number of women entered the workforce. A few of these groundbreaking programs were housed at the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, California, serving 1,400 children daily. The conclusion of World War II marked the end of the federal funding, but... California was one of three states that maintained the funding. The program evolved into what we know today as the California State Preschool Program. Symbols of these women in the workforce developed into the American icon ‘Rosie the Riveter’. Through her slogan of WE CAN DO IT, and a confident flex of her muscle, Rosie inspired Americans in a time of war and assisted in the establishment of high quality preschool programs in California. Just as Rosie inspired her community, the Kids’ Club Preschool family can inspire the Antioch community to preserve the essential academic and social services. See more
Yay! We can do it!
Come take a picture with Rosie the Riveter and post it on our page!
