As an alternative to our regular First Friday ArtWalk, we are offering an online Holiday ArtWalk this year. Please join us in supporting some of our local artists/vendors. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram, or their online shops! We are exploring our options in order to have you and our vendors back in person at ArtWalk events soon, but until then, share your ArtWalk stories and support our local artists and makers. https://kernarts.org/holiday-marketplace/

CALM HolidayLights The California Living Museum is pleased to present the 18th annual HolidayLights as a drive-thru event this year from Saturday, November 28, 2020 to Saturday, January 2, 2021, and we need your help! We are seeking approximately 25 volunteers each night to work from 4:45 PM to 9:00 PM (or perhaps 9:30 PM on busy nights) to help us direct traffic, welcome guests and scan tickets for entry. For each shift worked, each volunteer will receive a free pass to com...e back and enjoy the show any night Monday Thursday (value $30). CALM’s HolidayLights will be a drive-thru event. Please see the graphic and map showing the entrance and volunteer zones. You will be assigned to a zone based on our priority needs and number of available volunteers each night. Please email [email protected] with the date(s) you would like to volunteer and someone will get back to you with more details and a link to our orientation video. We truly appreciate your consideration and would be very grateful if you could assist this year. For questions please contact Lana Fain at (661) 871-1822 or send questions to [email protected]. Please forward this email to your friends and associates who may want to volunteers as well. Lastly, you may purchase tickets for the event (1 ticket = 1 vehicle) at www.calmzoo.org.

https://kernarts.org//communities-of-color-arts-and-cultu/ The Arts Council of Kern (ACK) is committed to the representation and inclusion of our County’s rich and diverse cultural communities. The ACK acknowledges that some of our local communities of color have been disproportionately impacted recently by the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic and recognize that these impacted communities would especially benefit from allies and community organizations working to elevate thei...r voices during these trying times. The Arts Council of Kern recognizes that representation matters and that art is a powerful vehicle for enhancing that representation and making communities more visible. The Arts Council of Kern, with support from the California Arts Council, has created a re-granting program that will serve communities of color disproportionately affected by COVID-19 in Kern County. The Communities of Color Arts and Culture Grant Program is intended to aid BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) arts and cultural organizations to restart arts engagement in the community. These grants are specifically intended for BIPOC arts and cultural organizations or arts/cultural organizations that primarily serve communities of color.

While many businesses around Kern County are reopening, there still remains concern over large gatherings. ArtWalk has been on a break since April in compliance with state, county and city guidelines discouraging public events. Until then, we are trying to continue to support our local artists and vendors with a Virtual Artwalk. Today's featured artist is Cheyenne Toussaint. Cheyenne makes handmade face masks with matching pouches so the mask doesn’t get dirty in your bag. She also offers shipping. Everyone needs extra face masks these days. Why not make them special! To find out more about her products or to order, please get in touch through her Instagram or email. Instagram: @cheyennerosemasks Email: [email protected]
