High School graduate or equivalent. Requires Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician with one year of experience preferred. However, may consider exceptional new grad. Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the surgery department adhering to established infection control practices. Inspects and ensures proper operation of autoclave units and reports visible signs of malfunction to manager.... Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of shift and records results in appropriate log. Has thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department. Prepares, conducts and maintains all inventory transactions, including data entry and filing source documents Responsible for load, changes, corrections and adjustments. Receives materials from vendors and delivers materials to various departments in a timely manner. Restocks materials utilizing proper rotation, organization, identification, documentation and location of stock items. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds, using proper body mechanics. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Must interface effectively and tactfully with, patients, residents, staff and the general public. Basic computer skills required.
