The Grapevine should be coming out soon - watch for your reservation forms for our November talk on Gold in Kern County with geologist Tim Elam! If you're unable to make it Tim often speaks at the Buena Vista Natural History Museum. Check their website for details!

We had a great time at the fieldtrip! Definately worth the drive! Thanks to Stan at Shafter Train Depot, Dean at Minter Air Field, and Steven at Allensworth for giving us such informative tours!

In 1918, a photograph was taken on the steps of the Kern County Court House in Bakersfield. On the front steps stand the men that had returned home from "over there." Behind these servicemen stand the veterans of the American Civil War. No further proof required -- Kern County supports its veterans.

Don't forget - the deadline for reservations for our Oct. Fieldtrip is this Friday! If you want to join us when we visit the Shafter Train Depot Museum, Minter Air Field, and Allensworth State Historic Park, then you need to get your reservation to Barbara by Friday, Oct. 7th!
