Last night recruits from the Sonoma Valley Volunteer Fire Academy learned about fire behavior as it relates to structural firefighting. They learned about flow path and the effects of smoke and heat within a structure, as well as the different stages of fire development. The mock small scale structure allowed them to see how fire behavior develops with in the different compartments within a structure.

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour tonight, and as always while you’re changing your clocks, don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

This afternoon Kenwood firefighters responded along with Sonoma Valley Fire District, after a request for the Region 3 Large Animal Rescue Team to a rural property in the Rancho Adobe Fire District. The response was to assist in moving an injured horse that was seriously injured. With technical rescue equipment carried on Region 3’s LAR trailer, the horse was safely and successfully loaded into the trailer for transport by the owner to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. This highlights just another of the many disciplines that our firefighters need to be proficient in to provide the highest level of service to the public. #mutualaid #Largeanimalrescue #kenwoodfirefighters @svfd_33 @rafdlocal1401

This morning at 1005 hrs, units were dispatched to a fall victim within Sugarloaf State Park. Chief 3100, and Utility 3141 responded with mutual aid from Santa Rosa E7, Santa Rosa AMR, and Henry 1. Upon making it to the patient, who was on a trail, it was decided to have Henry 1 longline the patient off of the trail and provide transport to the local trauma center. It is calls like these that show the importance of having good working relationships with our mutual aid partners within the county. #rescue #helicopter #kenwood #sonomacounty #mutualaid #kenwoodfirefighters #henry1
