WHY DON'T THEY LISTEN?!?! As a parent, naturally you want your kids to listen and follow directions. You want the best for them and do everything you can to help them succeed. HOWEVER, have you ever thought that maybe you're the one not listening? How would you feel if you were constantly bombarded with "no" and "don't do that," or maybe even "this is what you're SUPPOSED to be do!"... Feeling like you have no control is never fun. Kids feel the same way. As adults, we think we know better than kids and that they should listen to what we say. BUT, sometimes we need to listen as well. Being able to empathize with your children will allow them the comfort to open up, so you can get to what's really bothering them. Understand where they are coming from so you're treating the problem, not the symptom. Make it a habit to listen first, and the work together to figure out and fix the problem! By making this simple shift in mindset, you'll be amazed at how much better your children respond to you!
