I don’t even know what to say anymore. I cannot wake up another day with more excruciating news. Black people are not animals. We are not your target practice, we are not your play thing to only be enjoyed when we’re entertaining you. We are constantly being forced to live in unimaginable circumstances.... still. I get up everyday putting so much work into living a positive lifestyle and just in the snap of a finger I get brought back to the reality that we are never going ...to be seen as equals in this world. The woman in the middle is my late grandmother. She was the strongest woman I know. When I think of the things she’s experienced and seen I can’t help but to weep. Wonder what kind of life she could have lived if she didn’t have the whole fucking world on her back. Who would we be as a people if we were able to live privileged and free like our white counterparts. I wish the world looked different from where she is now. I wish I had better news to report back to her to show her we’re changing. But every time another unarmed black person is killed for just ...being black... I realize the times are no different.
