FAAS has launched a new initiative called "Healthy Pets Healthy People," an umbrella program to help keep pets out of the shelter and together with their people.... To launch the program, this past Thursday FAAS provided veterinary outreach at the Village of Love and offered free vaccines, wellness checks, flea prevention, pet food, and microchipping. We’re grateful for the support of our individual donors and the Humane Society of Alameda for making this new program possible. Pictured are FAAS Medical Director, Marie-Anne Woolley, DVM, the Manager of the "Healthy Pets Healthy People" program, Rita Ortiz, and one very cute and now fully vaccinated pup! The Village of Love, a local non-profit, operates the Alameda Safe Parking Program, which provides individuals experiencing homelessness, who are living in their cars and vans, a place to legally park overnight in a safe, secure, sanitary, and welcoming environment, and the adjacent day center, which provides meals, peer support, housing navigation, and referrals to other services. Get your pet’s portrait done for $20! It’s a part of the Frank Bette Art Center for the Arts’ Paw Prints online fundraiser for artists and FAAS coming up on Ma...rch 4-14. Make a $20 donation at frankbettecenter.org and email a photo of your pet to [email protected] by the January 25 deadline. Half your $20 portraiture fee will be donated to FAAS. Get back a pet portrait from a volunteer artist from the community. Your pet’s likeness might be captured by a professional artist, someone who flunked art class, or an imaginative 12-year-old! Not knowing is half the fun! You will receive an email when you order a portrait and when it is finished. All portraits will be completed by February 25.
