Several years ago Jim and I made contact online, via Facebook I think, and I got to see the good work he's doing to spread the word that there is help and support for gay people struggling to come out, especially for people who've endured shaming religious indoctrination and abuse to their sexual natures. I'm passing along his new resource page (and website, Silent Gays) in hopes that someone who could use support around coming out or other related issues will feel encouraged to explore and embrace their deeper natures in moving toward a vision of self-love and respect.

Some good advice with sound psychology behind it. It's also a creative challenge to think of how to apply these internally too.

I’m posting a flyer for a talk that’s coming up this Saturday, April 7. It will be given by members of the Institute for Uranian Psychoanalysis as part of their public gay-centered inner work club series. I am involved with this training institute as a senior trainee. This talk will discuss racism both as an outer and inner experience and how each individual can work toward a more just society by facing one’s own injustice inside. This talk is open to the public at Plummer Pa...rk, West Hollywood. The suggested donation is $20 but no one is turned away. http://files.constantcontact.com//5fd09f37-6eea-4f7f-91de-

An reflection on the power dynamics of compulsive care-taking in relationships.

I really like this daily meditation. A lot of people come to therapy wanting, in their words, "to understand why..." something or other is happening in their lives. Understanding may help someone contextualize her or his issues and suggest a course of therapy but understanding in and of itself does little to help us develop healthy attitudes and behaviors. Consistent, hopefully daily practice is what makes the difference. New neural pathways must be formed and new internal relationships established and strengthened in order to see the kind of progress most people want from therapy. A good reminder to myself!
