There is always something so satisfying to the heart when you see horses out grazing. That's our "arena", but since everyone is medically retired, so we don't ride.

We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving Day! How do you celebrate this day with your animal friends? We celebrate with our animals through food!! Here is what we do:... The dogs get the left over gizzards and scrap meat in their dinner, with a dash of bone broth! The kitties get a bowl of goat milk! The horses get watermelon, apple, and a couple of carrots! The goats get a handful of pumpkin seeds, and extra alfalfa! The chickens get veggies scraps, and left over ground up almonds! Even our resident raven pair get an extra treat! They love their 2 eggs, veggies and the left over ground up almond too!

Since 2012, K-THA (Keep the Horses Alive, a nonprofit 501c3 corporation) has provided rescue and sanctuary to close to 100 medically retired horses and other special needs animals in Southern California. K-THA's mission is to seek the highest level of care and healing for both animals and people. We have found an innovative way to involve young people and affect greater change. We are opening up the sanctuary and using our professional resources to help provide at-risk yout...h the opportunity to develop their purpose by exploring their passion for animals through the Young Roots Program. Go check out our new website and like our Facebook page to track our progress in the Spring of 2021. Pictured is Lady, our now 30-year-old resident that will be a part of the program, interacting with youth. She is super sweet, and especially loves kids!
