Bahar is a bright and beautiful 14-year-old student who just finished 9th grade with outstanding grades. She lives with her parents and 4 siblings in a very small rental house. As a construction worker working on a day-to-day basis, her father struggles to make ends meet. You can help more students, just like Bahar, make their dreams come true! We carefully match sponsors directly to children whose families cannot afford to keep them in school, thus enabling them to continue their education from elementary school through college. In addition to individual sponsorship, KCIS cultivates partnerships with other nonprofit organizations with common goals to provide a wide spectrum of educational services to those in the most desperate of circumstances.

During Spring semester, our first graders at Farhang School have to learn the alphabet and then write their names. When they get it right, they get to wear a crown with their name on it. To celebrate the achievement, they also get a special treat of chocolates . This is one of our bright first graders, Mina, who just accomplished this major task! She wants to be a doctor or a nurse one day. With her dedication, intelligence and skill we have no doubt that she will! Thank you for making her dreams come true step by step ! #TestimonialTuesday

Did you know that our individual sponsorship program, like our mission, follows a holistic approach to education? This means that besides providing financial aid for our students' education, your donations as a sponsor are used to provide mental and emotional wellness services, healthcare, family empowerment and other forms of help to our students in a holistic manner. In this way, we truly set our students up for success! Learn more about our individual sponsorship program by clicking the link below:

Be that caring adult for an underprivileged student who needs your guidance. When you sponsor a student in need, KCIS spins a cocoon of support and protection around that child throughout his/her education. As a sponsor, your donations would cover any thing needed for him/her to stay in school. If wanted, as a sponsor you could also establish a one-on-one relationship with your sponsored student and provide further guidance through his/her educational journey. Sponsorship costs $600 for a full year ($50 per month or $1.65 per day). To learn more, click here: https://bit.ly/3m9Ghh5

At the end of the month, the jury of the Astrid Linden Awards will announce the winners. One of the nominees is our very own Principal Nader Mousavi from Farhang School. This image, taken almost a decade ago, is the perfect personification of the love and joy Mr. Mousavi brings to his students and to the educational community. Once an immigrant student himself, Mousavi understands the educational challenges some of our students face and works hand-in-hand with each and every one of them to help them overcome these difficulties. For this and so many other reasons, we are proud to stand behind educators like him! To learn more about his nomination, click here: https://alma.se/en/

At KCIS we believe in taking a holistic approach to education, which includes a students' mental wellbeing. With a tough upbringing, Ahmad suffered from some childhood trauma. He shared his memories, fears, and feelings as he read a class poem to principal Nader Mousavi. Mr. Mousavi and the rest of Ahmad’s educators at Farhang School which also believes in the importance of mental wellbeing for students to be truly successful academically have been working closely with Ahmad to help him heal his childhood trauma and to help him reprocess dark memories and replace them with new ones of friendship and happiness made at school. Hear more of Ahmad’s story here:
