Congratulations to @keepoaklandbeautiful Youth Advisory Council leaders Cali Carson and Tiara Wilkerson, who rallied 120volunteers and planted 350 trees across... Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley and beyond . 350 apricot, apple, cherry and other fruit trees were planted in ONE DAY! . Bravo. . Tiara, a senior at The East Bay Innovation Academy and Cali, a senior at Oakland Technical High School originally envisioned making Oakland greener & more beautiful by planting trees to offset paper usage at their schools. . Each tree was $10, and a volunteer kindly did the work of digging and planting. Their fabulous program, Tree-Plenish, was so successful they more than doubled their original tree-planting goal! Their success also demonstrates that people want to see more trees throughout their cities. . These super charged leaders aspire to more environmental work post- graduation. Their futures couldn’t shine brighter. . Thank you Cali, Tiara, and your cadre of volunteer friends & family for a wildly successful tree planting event! . . . @cali.amazing @tiarawilkerso.n @treeplenish @e_._._._w #dobeautifulthings #weloveoakland #volunteer See more

Thank you to our KCB sponsors!!
Lots of trash yesterday. Most of us had 2 or 3 very full bags. Besides trash we are finding a lot of cigarette butts. Pismo Beach has a No Smoking Ordnance. The... butts were everywhere. There are employees from businesses taking brakes and leaving there butts for others to pick up. Please pick up after yourself. Filters are not biodegradable. Saturday night we noticed someone let off Chinese lanterns in the sky. While beautiful to look at when they burn out they litter the beaches and ocean with metal rings. We cleaned them up also. We also cleaned up plastic confetti left by gender reveal parties. Please pack out what you take in. It would help keep our beaches and oceans clean. Also Dogs are not allowed on the pier. They have never been allowed on the pier. Thank you to all these dedicated people who come out on Sunday mornings and help keep our beaches and streets clean. You all are the best. Thank you to our sponsors also. Sunsets at Pismo, Beachin' Biscuits, Splash Cafe, Pismo Beach, Cool Cat Cafe Pismo Beach and Pismo Beach Optix See more
Reflecting on the great success of the 2019-2020 school year and the thousands of pounds of recycled materials collected by our CA schools! Way to go!
Keep California Beautiful has announced the results of the 2020 K12 Recycling Challenge, a project that has helped divert 7.7 million pounds of waste from state landfills and awarded $140,000 to California schools since its inception. Via Orange County Breeze
Thanks for the small actions of many that make a difference but as the last quote says we are all in this together - if no one litters then the action of cleaning up wouldn’t be needed - thank you for not littering and thanks to everyone that volunteers to Keep California Beautiful. #KeepCaBeautiful #thankful
