Its on the governor's list of safe recreation. Why can't I go out with my wife and son? This is not about money or business. It is a constitutional right.

With beauty salons opening again in Los Angeles, can someone explain to us why individual or family kayaking is prohibited on our navigable waterway? As we approach a weekend that will have record temps, we want and need access to the river we have advocated for all these years. A navigable waterway can have "reasonable time, place and manner restrictions" on waterway use. Completely closing down the LA River to recreational kayaking even for an individual in their own kayak by themselves with proper gear? This is not reasonable.

Dear kayakers and river lovers: We are closed down. No kayaking allowed in 2020. Nothing we can do about it. In our view individuals and family "pods" would be safe but its not our call. One thing about our group: we are not quitters after 20 years of river activism. So stay tuned we are coming up with some cool, safe and fun ways to experience the LA River and its nature this summer.
