Hiya I wanted to re-introduce myself for the new faces around here I’m Karissa, I’m a girl mom, avid true crime consumer and have been behind the chair now for 4 years. Fave drink: Iced coffee ... Most watched show: The Office Go-to outfit: high waisted jeans and a graphic tee Not all of my tattoos have meaning, but one that holds the most is my first, my dad’s name next to a sun. He passed away when I was 18 and grew up with him always singing you are my sunshine. A song that always puts me in a good mood: Dreams - FleetWood Mac Your turn tell me a random fact about you, or if we have something in common below! See more

Without darkness there can be no light . That’s true for your color too. Light pieces POP when against depth / darker dimension. Sometimes when you feel like you want to be blonder you actually might need darker pieces to help the blonde really shine. . So excited to see my boss-lady-friend Mariah in a couple of weeks to refresh her dimensional color, she wants to change it up for fall

Fall is my favorite time of year because it represents change I’m always reinspired with style and beauty during the fall and love when you guys share that you feel the same. Right now I’m really bored with my hair, I’ve even asked you what you’d suggest in my stories) and am excited to have a new style within the next few months. I’m in the mood for new, can you relate? Can’t wait to read your suggestions in my ig stories!

I don’t normally do this.. Any time a guest with natural dark blonde hair asks me for a darker base I kind of freeze Any stylist will tell you, a level 6-8 is kind of the perfect base, because going lighter is a breeze for them. Lauren has a pretty sandy dark blonde color and asked for more depth throughout and though we talked about the change and the maintenance it would require she was down, AND IM SO GLAD WE DID IT ... I mean LOOK at how her eyes pop with the new contrast of her tint and balayage. I think she has good taste Base: @lorealpro DR 5N + 5.35 Glaze: @redken Shades 6gb + 6gi + 7gb Style: @bioionic 1 iron tousled with @oribe texture spray See more

There is no one on this earth that is YOU, that is your power . Can I be honest real quick? This week was hard and not just for me. I’ve watched myself, my friends and peers have challenges this week too and on the most difficult days we tend to forget our magic. We have a running joke that Mercury is in Retrograde (it really is) and from now on we’re going to blame everything on Mercury - Thank you so much for your kind comments and messages regarding imposter syndrome... in my previous post. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, we can make great progress when we are brave enough to be vulnerable with one another. . You are needed, valued and unique See more

The mind plays tricks on us and Impostor Syndrome is the WORST. Every once in a while, I start to feel off. It feels like no matter what I’ve learned and applied in my craft, I have nothing to show for it. Now obviously that sounds dramatic, I get to create beautiful hair and meet even more beautiful souls at my job. But the mind plays tricks on us, and impostor syndrome is the WORST. Impostor syndromeis a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their ...skills, talents or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a ‘fraud’ Hi, it’s me anyone else? One way I like to get myself out of this funk is by making lists, oh that’s the Virgo rising sign in me coming through . I like to list out current goals, and the steps to achieve them, crossing out the markers I’ve already met. Another way, is by opening up to friends and family, especially when they have this experience as well. Vulnerability can be really healing. Not everyday will be a perfect one, let’s stay grounded and remind ourselves daily what we’ve been doing well and how to reach our highest potential. How many of you have felt some wave of impostor syndrome? And how do you snap out of it ? (extra points if it’s more fun than making a list) See more

In a world where you can order anything online there will always be things that look better made from the hands of an artist. For the many corporations retailing at-home color, there’s a stylist like myself, with thousands of hours of training under their belt. I know how to create the dimensional color of your dreams without the guesswork in a box dye. The long hours, stained fingernails, mask wearing is all worth it for the final result. As an artist I hold a vision... for each client in my chair, and no two clients will ever look exactly alike. Let’s make magic this fall @stemsalon link in bio to book See more

Brunettes want to be blonde too I’ve realized that I have an affinity for creating lived in blonde looks on brunettes with really really dark hair. Idk if it in the air, or quarantine made it possible but I actually love these services. We can’t choose the hair we’re born with, but we CAN find professionals to deliver our dream hair, hi Brunettes always lift WARM, and dark hair demands knowledge of color theory to bring you all of the brightness and none of the... brass. These transformations are often longer appointments but I’m always up for the challenge if you are committed too. Want to take the next steps to achieve your hair goals? How to change you color for fall *blondes edition*: Fall is here (ahem, can we cool it with the 100+ temps) and with the changing of the seasons, I always experience clients wanting to change their color A little change does good for the soul but you don’t have to go all the way dark brown to see a difference. ... Change up your color with a glaze/toner, a Demi permanent color solution that not only glosses the hair, leaving it full of shine, but also changes the tone of the hair. Warm tones always are popular this time of year and I get lots of requests for caramel tones, a hint of copper or a bit of golden tones for my blondes. Come hang and make a hair change with merequest an appointment through my bio or contact @stemsalon at 925-933-7836. #stemsalon See more
