Back at it today, working with the awesome Chef Enrique at Northgate Markets in La Habra, photographing food for upcoming Lent (print and website), lots of pescado (fish) and camarón (shrimp) , some ceviche-style, some fajita-style, and some breaded-style... and it all tastes SO GOOD! There are days you get to photograph amazing & inspirational charity events like the Fired Up For Summer event (where Alice Cooper is performing and being backed by @flashbackheartattack), and then there are days you also get to take a pic WITH Alice Cooper after the event SUCH a nice guy! I LOVE what I do!!

I've known this beauty (& her family!) since she was just a baby... and now she's turning 18 and getting ready to go to college! They booked me last year (& due to rain we ended up having to reschedule once), but then we got a gorgeous day at the #montagelagunabeach and all the planets aligned for this super-fun shoot! Along with #seniorportraits, we also got some pics with her boyfriend and with her parents too. As always, incredibly #grateful for the clients who put their trust in me to help capture such important moments of their lives. Warning... long post ahead! (what else is new?!) It’s my birthday!! This is what 47 looks like: far from perfect, but strong, working with perseverance, and trying a little more each day to be like the little engine that could: I think I can, I think I can... It is so easy to get caught up in the cycle of negative self-talk; instead of putting myself on the line, it’s so much easier to avoid taking that chance that I can do something big and something great. BUT, t...his past weekend, I embodied my favorite saying: The magic happens outside your comfort zone... and I got over myself, and OUT of my comfort zone and dug deep and worked hard and stayed focused to capture an AMAZING wedding in Las Vegas (with much gratitude of staying positive from my fellow amazing photographer Rhianna Mercier by my side to be that voice to remind me that I could do it!), and I am very much looking forward to sharing some of those pictures very soon here on IG! And with that... today is a fabulous day so far! A shout out to all of you who have called, texted & posted on social media such lovely warm wishes! I got to do two of my favorite workouts first thing this morning (#bodypump followed by #bodycombat ) back-to-back with two of some of my very favorite instructors, they keep me laughing, inspired and motivated... which is why I keep coming back & pushing through even when it hurts, because I get results! (Did you know that you burn twice as many calories on your birthday? True story! ) (and not only that, but calories don’t count on your bday, also a #truestory ) That said, after my workouts, I indulged in my free #Starbucks #chesnutpralinelatte , came home in the pouring rain , got my cold toes toasty in front of the fireplace and promptly... took a nap ! I’m on my way to join some fantastic girlfriends for our annual holiday white elephant gift exchange and some much needed company... see y’all on the flip side!! MUAH !!

This past weekend I was so honored to travel to Las Vegas to photograph the absolutely incredible wedding of Nitin Somalwar and Kim Dal Santo at the Bellagio, with their families and closest friends in attendance. Of course, I wanted to post *just* the highlights, and the bride and groom asked for the best 5-10 from each ceremony (there was an Indian ceremony, followed later in the day by a more traditional one... complete with Elvis who "crashed" the end of the ceremony!). B...ut when they ask ME to choose... I end up choosing 160 photographs! Arrgh!! But when you want to show the overview of the day, there's the details, the getting ready photos, the first look, portraits, ceremony highlights... (and then all of those again for the second ceremony too!). Not to mention, there's the highlights from the reception including the first dances, toasts, group photos, cake cutting... and there are pictures from the Barat before the Indian ceremony (the processional of the groom with all of his family and guests going through the greenery arches of the Bellagio complete with rolling DJ playing the BEST music while everyone dances!), there are the portraits of Nitin, Kim and Dino on the patio of Hyde (where you have probably the best ground-level view of the fountains at twilight of anywhere on the Strip!). The day was complete with surprise upon surprise, one of the best being when Kim got up to join the Bollywood dancers who came in to perform at the reception! She was absolutely fantastic (you would never have guessed she learned the routine only 2 days before the wedding)!! And so to Nitin and Kim: I'm so sorry I couldn't choose just 20 images or so, and that it is actually a much higher number (however, considering we took somewhere in the neighborhood of 8000 photos from the weekend, I think narrowing it down to 160 was pretty impressive!). There are so many more I already want to share in addition to these! Having already met the families during the proposal and engagement photos in Palm Springs back in June, this felt like my own family to me. And having known the groom (and 2 of the groomsmen) for about 25+ years now... this was so much more than any wedding to me! I love everyone in this group and am just so overcome with gratitude that they trusted me to capture this incredible weekend. Also, I have a thank you of invaluable proportions to my second photographer for the weekend, Rhianna Lynn Mercier, who was my right hand, helped keep me focused on track, took amazing photos, and even came over and gave me mad props throughout the day to remind me that I was doing a good job (which helped me to no end)! THANK YOU, Rhianna, for being the absolute perfect photographer to join me this weekend! I am so grateful for you, your talents and your friendship!!

Ah, this has been such a wonderful visit to AZ for the annual pilgrimage, but alas, time to hit the road and return to reality! Lots of wonderful stuff on the road ahead to end 2018 with flair ! I am SO bad about being consistent with posting/sharing all of the amazing experiences I have on the many photoshoots I've had this past year, but these I could not wait a minute more to share! My dear friend Brandi is so talented in all that she does, but she *especially* shines in creating and styling the photoshoots we've been doing for quite a while now... we just did holiday photos along... with a photoshoot to commemorate her daughter's 2nd birthday. While I won't post the holiday portraits here (after all, part of the joy of having them done is sending them out the old fashioned way through the mail, yes?!), I HAD to post the others (with permission from mom)! These are a handful of my personal favorites of this little cutie looking dreamy in an incredible ballerina halter-style dress and floral crown as she plays in the cotton-candy grass (SO soft!) and then gets whimsical at her tea party. Fall is here and ‘tis the season!! A gorgeous sunset and view today in Dana Point as I do my first holiday portraits this year! (11th year in a row for the clients who I photographed tonight, I love watching these kids growing up!) And... a very dark pic (but fun to wait and watch for from this amazing vantage point tonight!): SpaceX as it launched out from Vandenberg AFB to the Pacific! Not a bad day. ...
