We love firefighters - these people are truly among the best human beings in the communities they serve. We serve them periodically by providing refresher training on the proper operation of propane systems and how to extinguish propane fires. Our staff in Placerville just finished spending some quality time with some of our friends at the El Dorado County Fire Department. With extreme weather-related wildfires starting up around the state, now's the time to refresh the most important propane safety tips. 1. Maintain a 10' "combustion-free zone" around your propane tank. Prevent grass, brush, and vegetation from growing in this area. Store your firewood somewhere else. 2. Store your portable propane tanks outdoors and at least 10' away from buildings. ... 3. If you need to evacuate your property, please shut off your gas at the tank. Lift the hood and turn the valve clockwise (to the right) until it stops. Contact your supplier to restore your service when you return. If you do each of these things you'll make your home safer all the time and more resilient in the event of a wildfire. If you want to sign up for our E-Z-Saver budget payment plan you have until June 30 (tomorrow) before the annual enrollment period ends. Saturday is the 4th of July and that means our offices will be closed on Friday 7/3 (that's the holiday). Please come see us before Friday if you need to fill your porta...ble tanks!
