Tip of the Week! Make some friends I find that making friends in karate is helpful. Having a friend, in class, will help push both of you to be better. It helps new students feel more confident and feel more in place. We have different event's for different ages to allow them to build friendships such as Parent's Night outs and Teenage Outings... "Some of my closest and greatest friends I have are from the martial arts" -Sempai Carrasco

Confidence "a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities" A lot of people join in the martial arts and are very shy and lack confidence. They tend to listen more and try to avoid the the attention in class. As an instructor, we often call on these students, when we know that the student knows the answer , to help boost the confidence. Also, we will spotlight them when they do something correct and strong. Nothing is more powerful than getting the feeling that you did something great in front of your friends!

Martial Arts helps students on their focus. In Class, we practice techniques and use different equipment. They have to use their focus on doing the technique correctly. While standing in line awaiting instruction, they have to focus on the instructor so they can understand what they need to do.

Control is key in almost everything that we do in life. Very often, we get asked if martial arts is helpful with anger management. The answer is yes! We focus on control in many ways. Allowing the student's to hit the targets/bags in class in a fun & exciting way while learning something will allow them channel that anger in a postive way instead of a negative way such as hitting someone or yelling at someone. The idea is to channel the anger into a acceptable target!

Kaizen - Change for the Better We often get asked what does Kaizen mean, and we tell them it means continuously improve or good change. In life, we face many challenges in life. With those challenges, it affects who you are and what you do. Don't let them consume you and make you into something that you're not. Use it to allow you to blossom into an amazing person that you can.
