Morty turned a year old during his stay with us, and he truly has grown so much!! I was insanely proud of him during his go-home session, he has transformed from an out of control puppy to a sweet and gentle adolescent, ready and willing to take direction. His owners were so happy and they told me they always knew he could be a good boy, even though everyone else told them he was crazy, they had faith in him and it has paid off!! I’m going to miss this goofy cattle dog but I know we will see him again soon.

Eva had a really awesome field trip to PetSmart yesterday! One challenge she’s been having is leash reactivity to other dogs, which was confusing to her owner...s because Eva likes other dogs and plays well off-leash. I explained to them that the issue is really that she doesn’t trust them when she is on leash, mostly because they get nervous and tense when other dogs come around. That energy causes Eva to become unsure and react in a negative way. We decided to make our pet store visit a positive and social one, not necessarily one where she was practising perfect obedience. You can see in the video that the leash is relaxed the entire time, which helps Eva stay relaxed and I’m giving her a lot of encouragement and praise each time she does the right thing. She is frequently checking in with me, even with strangers approaching her, excited dogs around, toys and even parakeets! Eva goes home tomorrow and I’m excited to show her owners how to start practising trust with their girl.

Andy and Parlays first trip to Home DepotThese flower girls did so good!!

It’s been a good day for #pitbull Andy! She had her first session with her parents yesterday and it went really well. Today she was able to have a great walk with #shepherd Brolly and for the first time ever decided she wanted to play with us.Rehab and training is definitely not all about rules and corrections. For a dog that was shut down and fearful when she got here a week ago, it’s fantastic to see her being silly and playful! #trustandrespect #confidence #adorabull #dogpsychology

Look at these amazing pictures of Hector! He’s in his 5th week of Pawsitive Change and totally thriving! I’m so incredibly proud of him, from #puertorico to the #dogpsychologycenter to #pawsitivechangeprogram, he is now paying it forward in prison. His sweet nature with other dogs means that he has helped a few of our more shy program pups gain confidence through his friendship. Had a great session with this smart, pretty girl yesterday. Pippin the #poodle is basically perfect but there’s a couple things she does that her parents really don’t like, such as when she steals banana bread off the counter or sneaks out the side door to explore the neighborhood. Pippin is a great example of a dog who was very obedient, but didn’t understand that boundaries needed to be respected even when mom and dad were not around. I showed them how to first teach Pippin what the boundaries were, and then how to set up scenarios that allow her to make good choices on her own. She did really fantastic and I know if they are consistent that everyone will be successful! #dogpsychology #dogtraining #packleader #rulesandboundaries @ Seven Oaks Country Club

Now that Presley has learned to be trusting and respectful around other dogs, he can finally relax and enjoy hanging out

If we’re gonna do play time then we always make sure to do chill time as well-it’s a great way when our dogs get all revved up to help them calm down again. Being relaxed together is also an important part of social interactions.

Love this awesome update from Steffany and Milo, who recently finished our private sessions package and are doing amazing!Hi Lisa, just wanted to let you know that on Sat I took Milo on a hike and he did so great! He didn't lunge or growl at anybody and was super friendly and relaxed with all dogs! Definitely a proud dog mom moment
