Found this from the State Board of Animal Health--Some good info and tips regarding questions anyone may have about how how the coronavirus impacts pet care-- "In the midst of all the life disruptions generated by COVID-19, I want to offer some guidance to pet owners who have/may have been exposed to the coronavirus. While much is still unknown about this virus, no evidence indicates that companion animals, including pets, can get sick from or spread COVID-19. However, beca...use we are still learning about this virus, we recommend that pets that have been in contact with COVID-19 patients should also remain in the home during the isolation period. I hope these guidelines will help you understand how to care for your pet if you and/or your family are faced with quarantine: Restrict contact with pets and other animals while you are sick with COVID-19, just like you would around other people. Designate someone in the household who is not ill to feed, water and care for pets, if possible. If not, wash your hands thoroughly before and after feeding and handling pets. People who are sick with COVID-19 should avoid direct contact with pets including petting, snuggling, kissing, being licked, and sharing food. Pets should remain in the home and cared for at home as much as possible. Prevent interaction with other animals and people outside the home (such as walking the dog). Do not take pets to the dog park, pet supply stores or boarding kennels. If your pet requires veterinary care, contact your veterinarian ahead of time for guidance. Follow your veterinarian’s guidance before taking your pet to the clinic. Service animals should remain with their handlers throughout the isolation period. One more word of guidance: If you are unable to continue to care for your pet while ill, seek help from family, friends or neighbors. To be clear: No evidence suggests that companion animals will spread the disease. We recommend pets be thoroughly bathed when transferring to another caretaker. This step should remove any virus particles that are present on the coat. We are hopeful that following these and other recommended public health measures will keep everyone healthy during this pandemic."

A "Home Sheltering' Spring Update: I hope this finds everyone out there as well as can be expected in light of the extreme living changes we have all had to make due to the coronavirus threat, and the mandates put into effect over the last couple weeks. It has been very trying on us all, but despite the obvious negative consequences, I sincerely hope we come out of this a more unified country and community, and we can all pull together to fight it as best we can and get back... to some sense of normalcy soon. We, here at Julie's Pet Care are persevering through it all, as I’m sure you all are, but just wanted to send this out mainly to let those of you who aren't aware know that though we are ‘sheltering in place’ for the most part, and doing what we can to stay healthy and infection-free, we are still open for business and covering any visits we can for any customers who are away from home for any reason, or need to travel, etc. and can’t care for their pets or home. I’m not sure if all of you are aware that in addition to pet sitting and dog walking, we also offer taxi service to and from vets/boarding, as well as transportation for customers also, who are not able to drive to and from hospitals or other local places, and home and plant care too, if you are away with your pet(s) and still need mail/packages brought in, and plants watered, or home checked on periodically while you’re gone. (Grocery or prescription pick-up/delivery is another service we could do as well.) Just for reassurance, we are taking every precaution to be uber-clean by wearing gloves, using sanitizing wipes, etc. and are very careful to follow the advice of the medical professionals to maintain cleanliness and keep our cars and devices germ-free. Most importantly, as mentioned, is that we all get through this in one piece, and everyone stays healthy. We are here for you if needed, and just feel free to get in touch if something comes up that you feel we can assist you with, or just want to say hello--:) All our best, Julie, Walt, and the kitties, Maxi, Buster, and Tabitha Julie's Pet Care 707-478-5673 www.juliespetcare.com
