We spent an AMAZING weekend kicking off 2020 Apple Season at Calico Ranch Orchard! The Young family have spent the last 30+ years carrying on Julian’s apple gro...wing tradition, which is such a central part of Julian’s history and heritage. David Young shares his family’s story over the years and their mission towards preserving some of the oldest and rarest apple strains in existence today. Stop by Calico Ranch during your next visit to Julian! Calico Ranch is a family-run apple and pear orchard located near the historic town of Julian. The farm has remained in production since it was first planted in the early 1930’s. The Young family has owned the 30-acre orchard for more than 20 years! As one of the last remaining apple orchards in the Julian area where the public can enjoy the fun of picking their own fruit, Calico Ranch offers the possibility of a unique family experience.

Well we are making it official. Next saturday we will start U Pick at 11am. The recent heat has ripened the apples faster then we anticipated. $10 for a 1/4 pec...k which is about 7lbs of USDA Organic Apples. We do need everyone’s help with wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and being cool and understanding that we are all in this together and that different people have different levels of comfort.
