The 1st Annual Spring Picnic was a delight!
CJP alumni Assata Allison and Jamie Vance are ready to kickoff the emoji themed 1st Annual Spring Picnic
CJP alum, high school teacher, Jamie Vance makes grab bags for CJP’s 1st Annual Spring Picnic. "I didn't want to include a bunch of junk that would break after 2 minutes, but a few things they could actually use for school. I kmow my students sometimes lack paper and pencils. And I thought an emoji theme could be relevant for the age range we serve". Bags are reusable, the ball is good for those who need to fidget, playdough is fun for everyone, and a light snack for nutrition.
Join us for opening reception of a new book about CJP! Opening day is April 20 and ends May 6!
Who's ready for a Vegas trip? CJP's award nominated "Whip My Mane" will be featured Saturday, April 28 at 5pm. The address is Suncoast Theater 9090 Alta Dr. Las Vegas NV 89144. Our documentary will be playing earlier that morning, at 10:50am.... Please come take a mini vaca and support the Compton Jr. Posse. Looking forward to seeing you!
When we say we KEEP KIDS ON HORSES AND OFF THE STREETS, we mean it. Some of CJP alumni, known as the Compton Cowboys, can attest to the impact that CJP has had in keeping them from being victims of surrounding gang violence, shaping them into the role models they are today. Please read & share their story, which has made it all the way to the New York Times. This couldn't have come at a more perfect time, as we are in serious need of donations to continue programs. We need more youth to enage with horses and be productive members of society. Thank you all for your continued support.
CJP alum Shola is assisting Jan with the class. Didn't we say she is on her way to becoming an instructor?!
Beginner CJP students are working on independent riding. Their goals are to practice precision, looking ahead, balance, and spacing.
Last week Ariel was on Brusky the Shetland Pony. Now she's sitting high and confident on Pirate and loving it!
CJP alumni are giving back this holiday season by volunteering to wrap gifts for children & are taking some to the Kendrick Lamar toy drive!
They're using their creative skills to design decorative masks. So far, so good!
CJP students and staff having a discussion about the fires. The kids expressed sympathy and concern and are brainstorming ways to help
Zahir is our little honorary CJP member. He brings joy to the program. Though he has about 4 more years until he's old enough to officially join the program, he's been learning so much. With your continued support, you help youth like Zahir have a chance in receiving all of what CJP has to offer. Right now he's playing with his wooden toy horse. We can't wait to see him on one of our horses!
