Because of the recent negative events in Ethiopia, Journey to Light is cancelling our EthioFest 2016 event that was scheduled for September 24 at Elk Grove Park. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people in Ethiopia who are suffering at this time.

With the help of a generous donation from Dir Biyabir, a non-profit run by Ethiopian/Americans, we were able to arrange the purchase and delivery of schoolbooks to two very needy elementary schools in southern Ethiopia, Bakanwote and Borana Tuba. We will continue to assist these schools with repairs and supplies. Thank you, Dir Biyabir!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support JTL at EthioFest 2015! Our volunteers and supporters are the best! All funds raised will be used to support schools in Ethiopia.

Preparing t-shirts for our EthioFest 2014 volunteers! Come and join us on Saturday September 27 from 12pm-7pm at Elk Grove Regional Park to raise money for solar lighting at Elas Elementary School in rural Ethiopia. We will be selling kitfo and other Ethiopian dishes, selling Ethiopian items, and enjoying Ethiopian coffee served in the traditional way. We will have local vendors, raffles for baskets and prizes, a bounce house and games for kids, Ethiopian music and dance, and a fashion show. This year we are raising funds to bring solar energy lights to Elas Elementary School in our project area. We will work with local elders and parents of the schoolchildren to make this happen. Help us by attending EthioFest 2014!!
