It might feel like everyone is out getting fit and that you should too... But whatever has happened with your weight or size this last year, let’s remember that above all, you have survived. I’ve been joined by more and more walkers and runners these past few weeks when I take my evening strolls in the park. I hope they (and you) enjoy the movement, that it’s not punishment, and that your body isn’t a problem to be fixed. ... If you feel called to pursue more movement now, it’s a great time check in with yourself with these two very important questions: - Does the activity bring you joy, peace, or power? - If it was guaranteed to not change your weight or shape at all, would you still do it? If you answered no to either of those, I encourage you to give your choice of movement and your intentions some consideration. Wishing you a peaceful evening. See more

I had a tough morning yesterday. The cats were fighting and generally being naughty. I realized I was out of coffee (nooooo). Poured some cereal only to find I was also out of milk (nooooo). Then when I was ready to start my first session of the day, my internet completely died and I couldn’t get my hotspot to work. UGHHH.... I ranted and cried a little while accidentally accessing Siri. And when this message appeared, I broke into loud laughter...and then shared it with some friends. I felt my feels and didn’t tell myself it could be worse (because it always can be so there is no point in using that to minimize my experience). Sometime we just need a cry and some kind words from a robot. . . . #siri #selfcompassion #selflove #badday #nocoffee #badcats #feels #allthefeels

Being not racist is not the same as being anti-racist. I’m grateful for this resource guide so that I can be a better ally.

Self-care looks different from person to person. It’s a broad term that encompasses the deliberate actions we take for the sake of our mental, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Sometimes it’s a hot bath. Sometimes it’s saying no. Sometimes it’s saying yes. Sometimes it’s sleeping late. Sometimes it’s having a cry. ... Whatever it is for you, it’s FOR you. So no judgment. #selfcare #nojudgement #mentalhealth #recovery #rest #selflove #needs #honoryourbody

I've been LOVING the book Burnout (The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle) by the badass sisters Dr. Emily Nagoski @enagoski and Dr. Amelia Nagoski @amelianagoski . Also, shoutout to another badass doc, Dr. Brene Brown @brenebrown for sharing about it on her podcast! Last week was SUCH a long stress cycle - am I right?! On Saturday, admittedly, I spent a lot of time crying, hugging, and jumping up and down. That was what my body instinctively knew to do in order to re...gulate and physiologically "complete" the stress cycle. Whether you are happy or disappointed in this past week's results, let your body do its thing. It's a game-changer. . . . I don't know who to credit for this, but THANK YOU. A fellow therapist reminded me of this today, and what a gift it is. Setting boundaries can be really hard, especially if conflict is scary or dysregulating for you. You're not alone. Remem ber, your job is to set and hold your boundaries. Your job is NOT to make other people feel better about them.... . . . Specialized, empowering therapy for eating disorders, chronic dieting, and everything underneath. When I catch myself in a worry-spiral, I hear these words (and in a lovely Hagrid voice, of course). And WOW, have I heard them a lot lately. Worry wants to help. Worry thinks it’s helping. Worry is really good at occupying your mind. But Worry is the rocking chair in the corner that gives you something to do but takes you nowhere. Acceptance is what I choose to practice instead. No, it’s not passivity. It’s not hopeless resignation to what it is. Practicing accept...ance actually allows us space in our minds to effectively seek solutions rather than ruminating on what we don’t want to be true. This stuff isn’t easy. Give yourself some grace. Give yourself a Hagrid pep-talk. Whatever you need. . . . #acceptance #mindfulness #harrypotter #harrypotterquotes #recovery #eatingdisorders #edrecovery #anorexia #bulimia #osfed #ednos #bingeeating #recoveryquotes #recoveryisworthit #inspiration #selfcare #selflove #hope #healing #progress #gratitude See more

In case you need this: IT IS OK to question what you were taught (directly and indirectly). It is ok to be curious about what falls outside of your social and familial norm. This is a beautiful on-going part of growth and individuation. PS, you’re amazing.

So many of us are struggling right now, and in that way, we are not alone. No matter what your head may be telling you, you deserve help, attention, and connection. Reach out. You’re worth it.
