My customer Alex wanted a 650b carbon wheelset for his Salsa Warbird so we came up with pair of my Signature 35 gravel/all road rims laced onto Bitex 6 bolt thru axle hubs, all held together with DT Swiss Aerolites to save weight and make’em slip through the air. My customer John wanted to repurpose a pair of 24 hole Zipp 808 carbon rims for use on his track bike. We wanted to keep the hubs local and went with a pair of Paul Components track hubs, the ones with the classic Campyesque flange cutouts. My customer Benny brought me a beautifully chromed pair of Sun Ringle Rhynolite rims to build int a Schwinn large flange front hub and a Sturmey Archer 2 speed kickback rear coaster brake hub. I taped the rims with electrical tape before lacing to ensure I didn’t scratch the chrome. Sent this wheelset recently to my Texas client Randal for his Litespeed gravel machine. I build a road wheelset for this bike a few months ago, but he’s been bitten by the gravel bug.
