During this pandemic, we are given time to really think about what is essential to us. Estate planning should be top of mind if you do not have an updated plan in place. With online consultations, you can plan in the safe zone of your home while making sure you have everything in place for you and your family’s future.
The health and safety of our clients, our staff, their families, and our local community are of critical importance to us. We are closely monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health departments on an hourly basis to help ensure that we are taking appropriate precautions to ensure everyone’s safety while continuing to provide needed services. With an abundance of caution, we are working to transition as many client meetings as possible t...o phone or videoconferences, limiting travel, networking events and nonessential gatherings through April 7, 2020. If you have any questions, concerns, specific needs, or an existing in-person appointment, please reach out to us at [email protected] or (831) 649-1122. If no one immediately answers, please leave us a voicemail with your name, reason for calling and the best number for us to reach you at. We will continue to tailor our approach to meet your specific needs and will continue to communicate as circumstances change. Please follow our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/JohnD.LaughtonAPLC for updates. In our office, we are following CDC guidelines with regards to client and employee safety including social distancing and other recommended measures. The Law Office of John D. Laughton, A Professional Law Corporation values our relationship with you, and we commit to staying connected and helping you through this unprecedented situation. Kenji and all the other artists inspiring the soul. Add a little sun, a little fog, and memories of Saturday afternoons at the MJF and the old MBBF. An audience putting their hands together and in the air. Mix it all together, and viola, a COMMUNITY Festival stirred to perfection! Can’t wait to see you there!

#HappyBirthday Janet Reno, the first female attorney general of the United States. Raised in Florida by two journalists, Reno attended Cornell University, where... she earned a degree in chemistry and attended Harvard Law School before returning to her home state to practice law. She began to make a name for herself as county prosecutor in Dade County, Florida, a position she held from 1978 to 1993. In 1993, President Clinton nominated Reno for the position of U.S. Attorney General, and she became the first woman to hold the position. She was one of the most respected figures in the Clinton administration, known for her criminal justice reform efforts. #DYK After her husband abandoned her and their five children, Clara Shortridge Foltz began studying law. In September of 1878, she passed her bar exam (despite ...her questioning lasting twice as long as was typical for a man), becoming the first woman permitted to practice law in California. Foltz tried to attend Hastings College of Law but she was mocked by her male classmates and banned from coming back. She appealed to the school’s dean and was told that her presence and rustling skirts bothered the young men of the class. Foltz and a fellow women’s rights advocate, Laura Gordon, took their case to the California Supreme Court and won. (Photo Credit: Online Archive of California) #womenshistory See more
