We have all received both of our Covid-19 vaccines and are feeling fine. We're continuing to wear masks and follow safety protocols for everyones safety.

Our new dental assistant Alexis Castro Oliva is a native Santa Cruzan who decided to become a dental assistant because her sister works in the dental field and enjoys it. Lexie enjoys crafts, roller skating and spending time with her family. She loves animals and has a 9 year old dog named Mickey. We welcome Lexie to our team.

It’s Disability Awareness Month. Disabilities are not always obvious so let’s have compassion for others whatever they’re experiencing. Peace and understanding go a long way, especially in these trying times.

We celebrated the birthdays of Melissa, our registered dental assistant and Peri, our registered dental hygienist yesterday by having lunch at De Laveaga.

Today is World Mental Health Day. Whether you pray, meditate or put on your mask and stroll through nature to refresh your senses, please take care of yourself. These are difficult times and we care about you, your family and others staying calm and focused. We have compassion for those in the world who are suffering for whatever reason and we encourage you to extend care and compassion to others as well.

Dr. Shirin is happy to be returning to Santa Cruz County. She attended Soquel High School and Cabrillo College, then moved to San Jose with her family in 1981. She finished her undergraduate studies at San Jose State University followed by her dental school graduation from the University of California at San Francisco in 1988. Dr. Shirin has always wanted to come back home to the area. After twenty five years of the private practice of Dentistry in San Jose, she is thrilled t...o be working with Dr. Stevens, her dental school classmate, and to provide dental hygiene in this high tech office surrounded by caring and devoted staff. She is passionate about helping people attain optimum dental health, which leads to a happier and healthier life. Dr. Shirin enjoys hanging out at the beach, reading, dancing and a good glass of wine. She likes to have fun traveling with her partner in life Dave and taking walks with their labradoodle Leo. This Labor Day when it's triple digit weather and still smoky from local wildfires, consider having an indoor picnic at home and staying hydrated with plenty of cool water and drinks. Maybe a green carpet could recreate this scene inside and the kids would have fun pretending they're outdoors where they'll be when it's cooler.
