Someone asked me today... "How long after a client gets a COVID vaccine should I wait to do massage?" I've been getting this question a lot-- enough to build a ...blog post on. In the short run, here's what I've got: We don't have any data yet on best practices for this decision. However, from what I have observed and had communication about, this is what I understand: most people won't have a big reaction. Those that do are likely to have unpleasant flu-ish symptoms for a day or two, and those symptoms arise within a day or two of getting the vaccine. For this reason, my advice is to wait for at least 2 days before offering massage, and longer if the client isn't back to full speed. This may be more stringent that strictly necessary, but in the absence of other information it seems like the safest course to maximize benefits and minimize risks. I hope this is helpful, and I hope it applies to you and lots of your clients SOON!!!
