Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can occur anytime and the reality is that many people are not prepared or properly trained to recognize and assist someone in need o...f CPR. The Corona Fire Department strives to arrive on scene of all emergencies rapidly. Response times to cardiac arrests within the City of Corona are swift however the early intervention of bystander CPR can increase a patient’s survivability. Scientific studies show that early CPR, defibrillation from an AED and initiation of 9-1-1 services can increase an individual’s chances of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) survival by 2 to 3 times. In our continuing effort to educate the community, the Corona Fire Department is offering a free CPR Training Program to any interested residents, school, group or business. The training is conducted by Corona Fire Department firefighters and paramedics. Upcoming CPR Training Sessions: Saturday, February 9, 2019 Saturday, April 13, 2019 Click to register for a CPR Training Class! Hurry, spots fill up quickly! https://uqfh5.app.goo.gl/2EKL

21st Annual Santa’s Ride-Along The City of Riverside Fire Department is excited to announce the 21st annual Santa's Ride-Along. The program is a cooperative eff...ort between the City of Riverside Fire Department and the Riverside City Firefighters Association Local 1067 (RCFA 1067). RCFA 1067 will be providing Santa Claus along with candy canes. RCFA 1067 will provide off-duty volunteers to act as Santa Claus. The role of Santa will be played by the department’s probationary firefighters. The candy canes and Santa suit are provided by the RCFA 1067. The fire engine will travel slowly through the neighborhoods with lights and intermittent siren sounding. When children are spotted, the fire engine pulls over and Santa and the crew will pass out candy canes. The fire engines will visit their assigned park between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and may stay at the parks longer if there is a crowd. If you are not on Santa’s route and want to see Santa, please be at the designated park no later than 7:00 p.m. The ride-along begin December 15th and runs through December 21st. The time is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Two stations per night will be escorting Santa through their neighborhoods. Fire Engines will remain in service and Santa will respond with the unit if they get an emergency response. If Santa is not at the designated park by 7:30 p.m., Santa is assisting the City of Riverside Fire Department with an emergency response and will not be able to make the designated park time. There will be no make-ups due to inclement weather or emergency responses. Assigned nights and units: December 15th Station 06 (Reid Park): Station 02 (Hunt Park) December 16th Station 13 (Sycamore Highlands Park): Station 12 (Harrison Park) December 17th Station 03 (Shamel Park): Station 11 (Orange Terrace Park) December 18th Station 09 (Castleview Park): Station 08 (La Sierra Park) December 19th Station 14 (Andulka Park): Station 05 (Nichols Park) December 20th Station 01: (Ryan Bonaminio Park): Station 10 (Villegas Park) December 21st Station 04: (Patterson Park): Station 07 (Bryant Park) The program distributes nearly 4000 candy canes throughout the city.
