Well fish fans we had the first of this seasons over night charters on the Fury with Capt. Rick! What can you say the fishing was a little slow but the crew did a great job keeping us on fish!! Also noted was the food, if you haven't tried one of Capt. Marcus's Patty Melts you really need to!! All in all the fishing was a little slow, made squid in the morning and fished for white seabass and then it was on to the Yellowtail and Calicos! There was a few monsters of both caught! I was fishing so no pictures of the big calicos but we do have some pics of the large Yellowtail!The winner of the jackpot was Cindy Leeches, with what looks to be a 35 lbs Yellow tail!! Great job Cindy!! Also a big shout out to the Capt. and crew of the Fury for a great time had by all!

Hey guys whats up on the fishing front? Well today was a good day for fishing the breakwall! I was told by Jig Stop Angler Ed Schimitt that there was a good bite on bass and little halibut!! what I would do is look at the bait and jig head that he is using and see if you haven't used those already and if not you might want to get them in your box!!

Good Morning everyone, Sorry for the delay in getting the results posted but people were sending them to emails and posting them online and then sending them in messages. So now after all the holes have been looked into the final results are ready to be sent out. To make it easy for you guys there will not be a big presentation all together, When you have time just come in and get your prize and we will take a picture and then post them all at the same time! So.. There was ...20 entries but only 7 seven posted pictures for the Derby! So there will be 5 places that will have prizes! First prize is a gift pack and a choice of a Bill Varney rod from Cousins. The second place finisher will get a Sedona 2000 reel from Shimano and 3-5 place will receive a gift pack that has things that everyone needs!! Here are the results of the 2017 Jig Stop Summer Surf Derby: 1 Place Jose Espitia with 52 inches 2 Place Cameron Keast with 50 inches 3 Place Brandon Shurman with 46.25 inches 4 Place Alex Eckhardt with 45.25 inches 5 Place Jason Hollingshead with 40 inches We want to thank all that participated in this event it’s always fun to fish, added to this the chance of winning a prize makes it a bit more exciting! Another last minute entry for the Derby Saturday night a nice set of bass by Vance Freeman! Thanks these are great fish!! All the fish are in the same category! All caught on home made swimbaits!! Way to go!! Remember be looking for the finals to be posted sometime today!!

Good Morning Fish Fans!! So today is the last day to post pics of the fish that will be entered into the Derby! There is a lot of people fishing and not to many fish being posted so in case you don't know how, you can send them to me at [email protected] or you can post them on our facebook page. So start posting!! So far with a preliminary look at the totals the top 5 look like this, these are total inches of the 3 biggest fish. 1. 52 2. 46.25 3. 44 4. 40 5. 15. You have till midnight to post the pic for the Derby!! There has to be some fatties left to hook and you cant hook them if you don't have a hook in the water!!

This just in!! The time is getting short, so be sure to get all the fish pics in of the fish that you want to be entered into the summer Derby here at the Jig Stop! Jig Shop Fisherman Jose X. Espitia just posted these fine specimens for the Derby! The competition is getting fierce! Remember you can't win unless you enter the pics of the fish you have caught!! See you out there fishing!!!

Another great pair of fish entered into the Derby!! Jason Hollingshead submit this pair of beans caught up in El Moro on the sand crab at sunrise. Remember, if you have sandy beach and crabs in the sand, the chance to get one of these great fish are closer then you think!! Get out there and fish!! If someone has a problem with the fishing we can talk to them for you!!

A great Halibut out the surf this last week by Jig Stop Angler Ed Schmitt!! Fish are out there all you have to do is go fishing. As you know, at the Jig Stop we say "Stop your wishing and get fishing!!" Great fish from the surf Ed. Keep it up
