We hope you're all well in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the order to shelter-in-place, and new guidance from IRS and FTB, we're instituting some new policies around the office and have some news to share. -As of Monday, March 16, 2020, the office is closed for in-person visits. Please e-mail, fax, mail, or telephone needed information for the completion of your returns. If you must walk it in, please use the drop slot in our front door. We will reach out to you ...when your returns are complete to arrange delivery. For individuals: -The Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, announced today an automatic 90 day extension to pay your taxes this year, provided your balance due is under a million dollars. July 15 is the new due date. We are still waiting for guidance regarding the April 15 quarterly estimate. However, the deadline to file is still April 15. -FTB (Franchise Tax Board) has granted a 60-day extension to June 15 for filing and payment of balances due without penalty for people affected by the pandemic. The quarterly estimate due in April for California has also been pushed out until June 15. Taxpayers must self-identify by writing "COVID-19" in black ink at the top of their tax return, or if e-filing, follow their preparation software's instructions for entering disaster information. Links to this information for further reading are posted in the comments below. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this tumultuous time and send our best wishes for health. -Elizabeth, Tax Assistant
