JDR Technical Service can only say one word to this dentist in Alaska..... PROFESSIONALISM. Don't be a clown in a circus act, nobody in your field of practice is impressed.

Let’s be safe and get back to work

We support our Hygienists greatly, but they have always been subject to RISK of many infectious viruses because they work in close proximity to others that have their mouth open and ready to sneeze, cough, spit saliva and drip blood from the gum line. Their work is much appreciated and they should always have all the necessary protection they need before entering the workplace. However, LOCK-DOWN hurts everyone, The dental community must be allowed to open and continue business before an economic pandemic occurs.

One of the methods of sterilization that is still being used today is Ethylene Oxide (gas sterilization) It is a very toxic and dangerous method used in medical, dental and veterinary offices. The safest means to sterilize effectively would be a steam process. We are NOT sold on the idea of Hydrogen Peroxide sterilization being effective enough to KILL micro-organisms either. This process is fairly new and is very expensive to purchase. Gas sterilization and gamma radiation processes are very dangerous to use and many offices do not have the proper training on the operation of these systems so exposure to these vapors could be deadly. Steam, Chemical or Rapid Dry-Heat are processes that JDR Technical Service recommends.

Maybe they should have had us certify their autoclaves .... one missed step from an operator resulted in this mishap!

Sorry we haven't posted in awhile, but our technicians have been very busy since the Anaheim Children's Dental Incident took place. Here's what we know now.... The insurance companies are now requiring MOST but not ALL dental offices to CALIBRATE and VALIDATE the autoclaves each year, and also have their water tested for micro-bacteria every 3 to 6 months along with having the X-Ray machines calibrated and checked yearly. Our company, to my knowledge is the only one that validates autoclaves by using temperature/pressure dataloggers that are placed in each autoclave's chamber vessel. The cost is approximately $500.00 to validate. The cost may be increased if it needs some repair work. If the insurance company does not get this type of paperwork, they may possibly cancel your business insurance.

We've got a better Idea......Have salons purchase an autoclave from us and we will maintain it on a regular schedule. This problem will only increase unless salon owners get serious about their business.
