Trailer shortening from a 48 ft to a 36 ft and a side door installation.

I posted an in process photo of this dual side door install with a 10’ wide opening a couple of weeks ago. Here’s a couple shots of it after we completed it. Customer was very pleased with how it turned out.

We’re not just limited to working on trailers. Here’s a big project we’re working on right now. Customer brought us their new chassis and we’re installing a tank, building a flatbed, and installing a new Maxon GPT lift gate. A lot of work going into this.

Dual side door conversion with a 10’ wide opening in process. Industry standard door blanks are 49 wide. This required a special order for 60 wide door blanks. Also, a lot of reinforcements needed for the door frame with such a large opening. More pictures to come.

Something a little different than the normal everyday type of trailer repairs we do. This trailer was customized to be used in the movie and entertainment industry for a customer. We’ve built a handful of these over the years. A lot of hard work goes into a build like this. These trailers are basically a rolling tool and storage box for your behind the scenes people who work on a set. They’re usually used by people who have the jobs of what is known as Grips, prop masters, ...wardrobe, or electric. This particular trailer, a prop master will use this as his mobile tool box and office on wheels. This trailer spent the first half of its life as just your standard freight hauling 53’ dry van. 53’ trailers are for the most part the standard size of trailers most often used for freight hauling. 53’ trailers are often not used in the movie industry due to them being too long to get in a lot of places they might be filming. This customer wanted a 43’ trailer. Pretty much impossible to find a used trailer that size and a new trailer would have had to have been custom built and new wasn’t in the budget. So, they purchased a used 53’ trailer and we shortened it down to a 43’. Then it was a total refurbishment and transformation which included the fabrication of storage boxes below (AKA Jockey boxes), a new Maxon GPC 3300LB capacity lift gate, side door installation with fold out stairs, a front office area with a locking door, full paint, inside and out, full 110V and 12V lighting, 110V outlet plugs throughout, and a epoxy floor finish. We finished it off with a DOT inspection and took care of all the mechanical items in need of attention. Everything was done in house by our crew of talented fabricators and installers.

We just completed a couple Maxon DMD lift gate installs for our friends down at Velocity Truck Rental & Leasing. Not an unusual install but our first install on a truck like this! A fully electric Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter truck. Really impressive truck if local city deliveries is what you do! Electric is the future!

Car vs trailer underrides. Trailer manufacturers have come a long way in recent years, in regards to their underrides. Of course the best thing is to do, is not let your self get distracted while driving and be involved in a crash like this!

Bring on the 33' double trailers!

We’ve seen a lot of burnt up axles over the years, this is about the worst I’ve seen come through here.

A properly spec'd trailer is important but a properly maintained trailer after purchase is even more important! In the past 25+ years we've been repairing trailers, the biggest mistake we see fleets make, is not maintaining their trailers properly. They do a less than stellar job performing routine maintenance and they let improperly trained technicians do improper repairs on their trailers. A well spec'd, properly maintained, properly repaired trailer will last you many more years than the manufactures tell you, especially when it comes to dry vans! That's where having a properly trained maintenance staff is key or hiring a good maintenance provider is important. We can help you on the latter!
