Happy anniversary to our very own Master Pilot Jim Brannan. This is a video of the ceremony last year when Jim was awarded the highest honor the FAA can bestow on a pilot; The Wright Brothers’ Master Pilot Award. The speech here is being given by Jim’s brother.

50yrs ago today, the world witnessed for the first time in its history as humans walked on the moon. Pilots Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin touched down in the lunar module while pilot Michael Collins continued flying the command module above. Incredible pioneers of air and space travel.

On this day in 1969, three aviators: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins launched to begin the Apollo 11 mission. A few days following the launch, Buzz and Neil became the first two humans to ever step foot on the surface of another celestial body. Learning to fly offers incredible opportunities for pilots. Today we celebrate our Independence Day and remember all the liberties and freedoms our constitution provides us. Aviation and flight will remain only an unrealistic dream for most. Aviation has an incredible history woven into many of the most significant events of the 20th century. Today, on the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion we remember the thousands who took part in the largest sea, land, and air attack ever conducted. Enjoy the article discussing the re-enactment which took place using the very same aircraft which dropped American paratroopers into France similar to the soldiers made famous on HBO’s mini-series Band of Brothers.
