Jays Car Repair 28.01.2021

35 years ago we started Jay's Car Repair. It has been our 2nd home. We love our customers and have worked on 3 generations of family cars. We announce that on March 2nd there will be a new owner. Our same mechanics will be here and we will stay for 2 months to train. We chose the new owner Dominic Cesare very carefully. He is a local San Clementian and wants to keep our same philosophy of the community shop going. There were three others that we rejected. We hope you continue on here at Jay's and decide for yourself that the quality and honesty and caring is still there. The name stays the same. We will miss all of you. These are photos from 1985 when we started. Oh to be that young again. Hope to see you all again around town.

The cold air at night is already bringing rodent problems to cars. We have had quite a few cars coming in with hoses and wires chewed through by rats. On one that we fixed with a new hose, was back the very next day with the same hose chewed through again. Try to park in garages. If you see droppings, set out a trap. The rodent will go to the food in the trap over a hose. It will save you money in repairs to be on top of this.

Fall is here and as the weather gets cooler, the rodents get up in the engines of the cars that are parked outside. They gnaw on wires and cause problems. Check under the hood for nests and remove them. Peppermint spray on the tires help repel them. Also, if your tires are marginal, it is time to replace them before the rains come. Happy Autumn!

It's summertime. Hot weather overheats engines and electrical parts. Make sure you have plenty of coolant in that radiator. Ask the kids to not slam the doors, since that wears out window regulators and motors. If your battery is over 4 years old, get it tested. Being stranded in the heat is not fun. If you are going on a trip, we do a special trip check for $31.80. Have a wonderful summer.
