RULES ARE POSTED!!! (You can check out rules any time at: http://www.jayceevw.com/2017-super-stock-rules.html)... *There will be no other rule changes other than safety regulations implemented by NHRA. 2017 VW Super Stock Rules Air-cooled, opposed 4 cylinder engines only Body 1. Any full bodied, rear engine VW. (carbon fiber or fiberglass replacement parts ok) 2. Deck lid required and must remain in its fixed position during the run. Suspension/Chassis 1. Must use stock type suspension and dimensions with stock pivot point location. 2. Early vehicles may run late type suspension and late vehicle can run early type suspension. 3. Must only use one shock per wheel. Coil overs, longer spring plates, etc. prohibited. 4. Tubular trailing arms for IRS suspensions are legal, as long as all dimensions and mounting points remain in stock location compared to a standard trailing arm. 5. Front and rear suspension raising and narrowing is allowed. 6. No electronically controlled suspension parts. 7. 10-inch slick maximum width Minimum Weights/Weight Breaks 1. Prior to each run, the vehicle will be checked for weight and meet a minimum of 12 lbs. per cubic inch with the driver in the car. Displacement will be rounded to next whole number. (example: 142.2 CI = 143 = 1716) 2. Minimum weight: 1,600 lbs. Non-raised rear suspension: 1,575 lbs. 3. Vehicles not running raised rear torsion bar housing will be allowed to remove 25 lbs. from their minimum weight. A maximum of a 1" transmission raise kit is allowed. 4. Any entry running a true Pro Gas engine/car configuration will be able to run at 1,700 lbs. minimum weight. Non-raised Pro Gas cars can run at 1,675 lbs. 5. Entries claiming this configuration are subject to a full Pro Gas tear down. 6. All Pro Gas Rules Apply. Engine 1. Maximum engine displacement 2444 cc's (149 cid) 2. Maximum bore: 94.1 mm's (3.705 inches) 3. Iron cylinders only 4. Steel connecting rods only 5. Steel pushrods only 6. Titanium may only be used for valves, keepers and retainers. 7. Flat tappet cam and lifters only. Billet pieces allowed. 8. Maximum lift is .645" 9. VW type 1 stock flange style cylinder heads only. Stud pattern must be in the factory location and dimensions. 10. These studs must be used to mount the manifold externally to the head. Additional stud for anchoring allowed. 11. Welding to increase, or originally filled flange area allowed. 12. Intake manifold welding is allowed. 13. Must use OEM style rocker mounting and dimensions. End supports allowed. 14. Maximum diameter intake valve: 44mm (1.736 inches) 15. Maximum Exhaust valve diameter: 37.5mm (1.476 inches) 16. Minimum valve stem diameter: 5/16 in. 17. Wet sump oiling systems only. Carburation 1. Any single or 2 barrel, downdraft Kadron, Weber, Dellorto, Berg or Empi carburetors allowed. 2. Throttle plate max diameter: 52mm (2.047 inches). 3. Venturi max diameter: 44mm (1.735 inches). 4. Two (2) carburetors maximum. Transmission 1. Manual 4 speed transmissions only. (VW or Mendeola only) 2. No air or electronically controlled shifting. 3. No clutch less or sequential transmissions. 4. Any diaphragm or finger type clutch allowed with a single disk only. 5. The only clutch management allowed is a Washington Anti-shocker type cylinder and must remain fixed during the run. Controlling from within the vehicle not allowed. Any adjustment during the run prohibited. 6. Any device, either electric or mechanical, used to aid in the ability to shift the transmission without the use of the clutch is prohibited. Electronic devises, switches or anything that allows the ability to record gear location or shift sequence is prohibited. MSD Ignition box 7531, MOTEC ignition, HS Tuning N2MB WOT Box or any non-traditional uses of rev limiters used for the purpose of aiding in clutch less shifting is prohibited. 7. Tech officials can, at any time, make decisions on the legality of any device that is not mentioned in this section but may be used in any prohibited manner. General Rules 1. Oil-retention device mandatory; device must extend from midplate rearward past crankshaft pulley and must incorporate a minimum 2-inch-high lip on all sides. Nonflammable, oil absorbent liner is mandatory inside of device. 2. No power adders allowed. 3. No vacuum pumps allowed. 4. Data logging permitted. 5. Wiring (including data logging) is not allowed to the following locations: Transmission, shift rod/s and shifters except for the purpose of a line-loc unit or 2 step rev limiters. For this use, the wires must be left visible with a clear unobstructed path to the said connections. 6. Mufflers required if required by track. 7. Records will be awarded for runs backed up within 1%, when minimum weight requirements have been met and weighed before or after the pass, and when cubic inch of engine is verified. Any other verification of rules are up to the discretion of the tech officials. 8. Vehicle must pass NHRA tech and safety specs for e.t. of that vehicle. 9. All general rules concerning race procedures and any safety rules are contained in the NHRA Rulebook. Class legal fuels: Sunoco: HCR plus, Maximal, SR18, Standard and Supreme VP: C12, C14, C14+ C15, C16, C19 and C25 Fuel additives prohibited If there is anything or any part of your vehicle that you think could possibly cause any conflict or not pass inspection, please contact race officials prior to the event. Failure to do so may result in your not being allowed to participate. Point System Attempt to qualify 40 points Qualifying Positions Points 1 8 2 7 3 6 4 5 5 5 6 5 7 4 8 4 The #1 qualifier in each qualifying round receives 1 bonus point. The winner of each round of eliminations will receive 8 points. E.T. record runs will receive 4 points.
