Another gig coming up for the inspirational guitar player, Matthew Charles Heulitt. Always happy to provide art for his efforts. If you haven't had the chance to see him, I STRONGLY recommend it. He's amazing, and assembles an amazing group.
I find doing logo work for bands that I'm actually in to be by far the hardest nut to crack. Being so personally invested, it takes a lot to have that objective eye to evaluate, refine, or even discard. Seven Way Split, a soul-jazz group I'm in, has needed a logo for a while. Finally getting the vibe I want, as well as some of the visual details. Subtle, groovy, and classic.
And in simple white. This is an updated flier from many years ago. The Cottontails are a terrific early jazz group in SF featuring the fantastic vocals of Karina Denike. I’m always happy when I see this one floating around. #EarlyJazz #Jazz #TheCottontails #KarinaDenike #TheRiptide #SanFrancisco
A new flier for my good friend, Matthew Charles Heulitt's upcoming show. Always fun to work for him. Go see this show!
My good friend and musical mentor has released a new album for which I happily provided the artwork. Matthew Charles Heulitt Tarik Ragab and others are featured on this lovely recording. Pick it up! https://matthewcharlesheulitt.bandcamp.com//tiny-telephone
This week all sorts of projects I’ve done for friends have been surfacing! I love it. This one I’m particularly fond of: new business cards and branding for expert and acclaimed barber Mark-Jason Solofa. He wanted 50’s-60’s rat pack meets the islands, and that’s what he got. He’s a terrific barber, and an even more exceptional man. Check out his parlor, either in Berkeley, or his new place in Danville. Http://www.mjsolofa.com
Had fun doing this custom plectrum design for Nick Rossi, a talented swing/early jazz guitarist.
I had the pleasure to design the poster for Matthew Charles Heulitt's show a couple weeks back. Above that honor, I got to hear some of the most amazing improvisational music I have heard. Truly this group is a dream team of world-class players. Thanks, Matthew, for this!
New MCH Trio Posters! I love working with Matthew for many reasons, one being that he indulges my super-minimalistic tenancies! If you are in the area of either of these shows, you must go and treat yourself to amazing music and musicianship. #matthewcharlesheulitt #jazz
