I’m excited to announce my new book, Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma, is already available to pre-order on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com//498B156E-9DC2-4CC9-9EE9-15F70CE596! I call the legacy of trauma a ‘living legacy’ because it rarely feels old and long ago! And it doesn’t simply consist of the memories of terrible events. Instead, trauma manifests as ‘symptoms’ like anxiety, shame, anger, mistrust, numbing, hopelessnessto name a few. Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma is a workbook and guide to the journey to healing. As a ‘guidebook,’ it describes the terrain to be explored, and it provides maps to help travelers find the best routes to a life beyond trauma.

I’m excited to announce my new book, Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma, is about to be released and is already available to pre-order! This book is the outcome of my 30-year career in the trauma treatment field, written in an effort to make the latest advances in our understanding available to survivors of trauma, not just to therapists. For those of you familiar with my psychoeducational flip chart, it is also meant to be a companion to the flip chart diagrams. I cal...l the legacy of trauma a ‘living legacy’ because it rarely feels old and long ago! And it doesn’t simply consist of the memories of terrible events. Instead, trauma manifests as ‘symptoms’ like anxiety, shame, anger, mistrust, physical tension, inability to sleep, numbing, hopelessness, or pounding in the heartto name a few. Without any way to identify their reactions as memory, the living legacy is easily mistaken by survivors for reactions to their present lives, increasing their sense of being permanently damaged or having failed. Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma is a workbook and guide to the journey to healing. I wanted to write a guidebook that therapists and their clients could share in their work together or that survivors could use with or without a therapist. As a ‘guidebook,’ it describes the terrain to be explored, and it provides maps to help the traveler find the best routes to a life beyond trauma. The book will be published in the U.S. in February and is already available on pre-order at: https://www.pesi.com//transforming-the-living-legacy-of-tr. It is also being translated into Italian for publication by Mimesis later in 2021. I invite you to check it out!
