A proposed class-action suit from California state court has been moved to the federal stage. This case could have lasting impacts on how personal information is protected under California's consumer privacy law. This case is related to a ransomware attack on a company back in February, that has made certain individuals vulnerable to identity theft for an extended period of time (perhaps even for the rest of their lives). When your personal information has been compromised, it is very jarring. Arm yourself with information and learn how privacy breaches from ransomware can affect you and your future. Some good news from FOX59 News San Diego county has been removed from the state's COVID-19 monitoring list. We are now seeing a downward trend in positive COVID-19 test results. Now that we are off the 'Watch List', if there are no more spikes in cases for 14 days in a row schools could theoretically start opening and have in-person classes.... Stay safe San Diego!

Drivers often play out scenarios after an accident wondering what they could have done differently. Let's talk about some common driver scenarios and how to avoid collision with another vehicle. So let's say you are driving on the highway and see a chunk of rubber tire on the shoulder of the road, or maybe even in the road. This is an obvious indicator that a truck has had a tire blow out. Why is this so common and how does it lead to accidents? A tire blowout can be a very d...angerous situation. For one thing, it can happen at any time, and the suddenness of the event can cause both the truck driver and other vehicle drivers nearby to react in unpredictable ways. If the driver of a truck loses control of their vehicle because of a tire blowout, there are some common signs that this is happening. The truck might swerve erratically into another lane, or even worse it could jackknife or rollover on the road. One way to protect yourself is to avoid driving alongside a truck for any longer than necessary. Tire blowouts create flying debris that can shatter your windshield on impact. An airborne piece of tire can fly a lot faster than you think, or it could land in the middle of the lane, which might require you to make a sudden swerve that leads to an accident. Always be prepared, but don't beat yourself up about having an accident. What is important is that you are ok, and that proper damages are sought if you are injured. This has been a big case to follow in our San Diego community. The San Diego Police Department has announced after an extensive 6-month investigation that there will be no charges laid in the death of San Diego State University student Dylan Hernandez, who died after falling from his dorm room bunk bed after reportedly attending a Phi Gama Delta fraternity event on San Diego State University campus. SDSU will now commence its own investigation and administrative review proces...s. My heart goes out to Dylan's family. May all details of this unfortunate event be uncovered. This case also highlights how crucial witness accounts are to laying criminal charges. In this case, no witnesses came forward to provide any insight to police, which makes the investigations lengthier and less clear in terms of direction to take based on the lines of evidence available to investigators. Federal and state lawmakers, highway safety groups and the trucking industry have been at odds for years over the use of underride protection, including legislation for side and rear underride guards, which the trucking industry has fought against tooth and nail. Legislation at the federal level called the Stop Underrides Act has now been through several legislative committees and is now awaiting final rule and regulation guidelines to be released from the U.S. Department of ...Transportation Once this Act comes into effect, all tractor-trailers will be required, by law, to be equipped with an underride guard on the sides and front. Opponents argue that small businesses will suffer economic hardships to implement these upgrades to their fleet, and that underride guards aren't proven to increase safety.
