This is a great little warm up flow pre full body workout that I used for my client today. Lateral lunge Spring - Twist Crunch . Yay, we’re doing laterals again!! I love laterals since we very seldomly move in that direction in our everyday lives. I...t’s half our body!! This exercise builds it allLower Body & Core , Oblique Strength, Posture, Lower Body Flexibility, Power, Coordination & Momentum, Focus & Confidence! This one increases the muscles around your knees and improves mobility in the legs, spine and hips. Each exercise alignments add to the next. Make sure you have it down before moving onto the next. Breath through each movement! Inhale to lengthen up/ lifting out of the movement, Exhale to deepen/ fold into the movements! Warm Up/ Cool Down: before and after. Follow the Videos posted separately before and after:) Plank Twist Crunch: Press evenly into palms placed under shoulders/ Triceps spin back/ Rebound up arms/Firm navel in/ Neck in line w spine/ Sacrum lengthens to heels/ Firm inner thighs in/ Firm quads up/ Energize out heels/ Keep hips close to level/ Use Abdominal strength to bring knee to opposite tricep. Lateral Lunge: Wide stance w feet parallel/ Toes point forward/ Knee stay soft, do not lock out/ Back stays neutral/ Knee stays pointing at 2nd toe & over ankle/ Shift weight to one foot while keeping other leg straight and relaxed/ Bend knee/ sit the hips back to fold at hip crease Later Step - Twist Crunch: Soft bend in hip & knee to allow a spring to create momentum into the crunch and to safely catch out/ Keep the momentum as before by utilizing the core and breathing/ keep the hip back when bending the knee to keep the knee safely forward and over the ankle/ Keep body upright. Baby Lateral Spring Catches: Building up the momentum into a deeper lateral lunge & power into catching at the top (outer hip & core strength). Remember all the important cues from before. Slow Lateral Lunge - Twist Crunch: Building the quad strength to go deeper into the lateral lunge up into the crunch/ Still in separate steps put together without the power to catch. We’re hosting this Sunday 7/5, rather than our usual Saturdays, but same time/ place @ 11:00am in Civic Park Walnut Creek (next to the gazebo). You’re welcome to participate if just come watch how we do it. We modify and demonstrate everything. I’m hosting Yoga Amongst the Sun every Saturday morning in Civic Park (next to the gazebo) in Walnut Creek. Bring a mat (or large towel to practice on), water, a strap (scarf or leash for stretching), and either a 1-2 blocks and a towel/blanket (2 blankets/towels if no blocks), or bolster as a prop:) Free 3 hour parking is off Civic next to the play structure. We’re practicing half in the sun and half in the shade so you are able to enjoy at your most comfortable positioning.... Myself and Sophia will be teaching together and demonstrating each move along with modifications to best suit you. Understanding ways to build or progress form each exercise can be confusing. Some days you have the energy or strength and some days you don’t. Having a few different ways to grow up to or past an exercise can be very useful to always keep the body growing in its best form. Most importantly, you honestly don’t need anything besides your body and a couple of props for most or them. Im going to put together a bunch of videos of ways to grow into or build from an exercise. I’ll... include benefits and key alignment guides for you to follow with each one:) Try doing small increments of each buildup daily to create a workout to progress through Remember, it should be challenging; if it becomes easy move on to the next challenge. Don’t underestimate what you think would be easy. Sometimes slowing down the pace or just going back to the basics can be a challenge as well. Lookout for my posts!
