Bunny Patrol is back! The Jackson Fire Department will conduct our second annual Bunny Patrol on Sunday, March 28, 2021. Starting at 9:00 am, the Easter Bunny will tour Jackson on our 1929 Studebaker fire engine to bring everyone a bit of Ester cheer. Step on out of your houses as the parade of fire trucks passes by escorting the Easter Bunny! In order to maintain safe social distance, the Easter Bunny will not be stopping to visit with each child.... The Easter Bunny will pass through Jackson areas in this order: Argonaut Heights Westview High School Hill North Main Street Downtown Jackson Rollingwood Broadway and Center Street area Pioneer Drive area Scottsville Blvd. area Peek Hill area Although exact times are not available, we will provide location updates here on our Facebook page. Six years ago today we lost our brother, a true friend, father and husband, Captain Franck Tremaine after responding to a motor vehicle accident. We miss you Franck, your legacy lives on here at the fire house and in the community that you so proudly served. Rest in Peace, dear brother.

Although the idea of firefighters rescuing cats out of trees is pervasive, it happens very rarely in real life. On Saturday, 1/2/20, we had one of those rare chances. The reporting party stated that the cat, which is normally indoors, had been up in the tree for more than 24 hours. At first they thought that the cat would come down by itself but after more than 24 hours they thought that they would call in some help. In less than 1/2 an hour we had the cat down from the tree and back to the owners. The evening of 12/29/20 was full of interesting calls for the Jackson Fire Department. Our first interesting call was in front of the Jackson Post Office where a tractor trailer got high centered on the incline leading into the parking lot. The second call was for a hydrant that broke off on Court Street sending up a geyser of water. These are just some of the types of incidents that your Fire Department responds to no matter the time of day. Yesterday, 9/7/20 at noon, Amador County formed an OES Strike Team for in county use. This was formed for the PSPS and Red Flag warnings. The Strike Tram is comprised of Engines from Jackson Fire Department, City of Ione Fire Department, Sutter Creek Fire District, Amador Fire, and Mule Creek CDC Fire. You may see engines sitting out in front of stations around the county with 4025C written in white on the windshields. These are the engines held at key points around the coun...ty to bolster the amount of equipment and personnel responding to any new Wildland Fire start in the county. Wildfire Smoke Warning: Air Quality Advisory Some areas of Amador County are experiencing heavy smoke due to smoke drift from wildfires burning in other counties. Amador County Public Health advises community members that air quality may be unsafe for those with sensitive medical conditions. Residents with chronic health conditions, young children, pregnant women and elderly adults should especially be aware and take protectiv...e measures. If you smell or see smoke, take these steps to protect your health: Minimize outdoor activities. Stay indoors with the windows and doors closed. Do not run fans that bring smoky air inside (such as swamp coolers, fresh air ventilation systems). o If you have a wall unit air conditioner, set it to re-circulate. o When in a vehicle set the climate control to re-circulate to avoid bringing in smoky air from outdoors. Do not smoke, vape, fry food or do other activities that that will create indoor air pollution. Drink plenty of fluids to keep your throat moist. If you have chronic health conditions, monitor your health closely. Contact your health provider if your symptoms worsen, including repeated coughing and wheezing.
