Had a great turnout for my book launch ("Shu Wei's Revenge") at the Book Passage bookstore in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Kudos to both Book Passage and Left Coast Writers who co-sponsored the event as part of the celebration of Chinese New Year. Gung hey fat choy! Next up: my talk at the Commonwealth Club on March 7th at their new building.

Please stop by the Books Inc. bookstore on the 7th of February at 7 PM where I will give a talk and sign books. Hope to see you there. There will be goodies and a free signed copy for the lucky someone. http://evite.me/KEV9jU9ENS

Had an enjoyable book talk yesterday at the Asian branch of the Oakland Library. Janet Cheung, branch mangager, and her aide, Frank, were gems as hosts and making everything run smoothly. Frank (at left at the table) was an invaluable interpreter and seasoned interviewer. Donated a copy of my book to the library.

Fun evening at the "Great Good Place for Books" in the Montclair neighborhood of Oakland. A book launch for two fellow authors: Gigi Pandian's launch (on right) for her "The Ninja's Illusion" and Susan Spann, rounding out her book tour for "Betrayal at Iga." Lively discussion.

My new banner: the imaginary village of Sanhou, China, where my protagonist in my new novel, Shu Wei, lived. He's probably lurking somewhere in one of those buildings. I've been in magical villages like these and they're fascinating.
